Now, I know most of us complain about the amount they deduct on our paychecks each pay-period, or what not, but doesn't the fact u can rest assured knowing that, that pothole is gonna be filled, and the sewage and garbage be taken care of, totally worth it? Its like a way to make everyone accountable to care for things that everyone enjoy! I cannot wait til our own country implements this system!
Speaking of which, How did taxes work in Somalia, back in the day? Was "Canshuur" required of everyone (i.e individuals) or was it just businesses/rich people? Was it taken yearly, or on a monthly basis? In percentages or fixed amounts? Finally, how plausible do ya'll think that we'll ever be able to implement such system? I mean no taxation without representation and all
! Good news is that Functioning Regional governments such as Puntland and Somaliland have already begun with stricter requirements. I'm sure in the future it'll be easier to have a central government be able to over see these regional governments books and to take it from there!
