DEAR DIARY: My day with Somalinet's women. (The nayaa crew)

Post by studente »

I really didn't want to have ANYTHING to do with the naayaa crew. I mean, come on, who would go through the torture. But my mother insisted I go to their monthly get together: I had to delve myself into Somali culture and should hang around Somali women who could teach me my culture. Rolling Eyes Anyway, I went. I wouldn't ACTUALLY become a member (shudder) but would be a guest-I couldn't participate in meetings but I could sit in.

So, I was told that the meeting would take place in Jazminda's house. Attendees would include the members Basra, Gogarad, Axlaan, Amatallah, Sexy Kitten, Hannah and ofcourse Jazminda-she currently had the rotating presidency for this month. I would sit in as a guest. one hour before the meeting I stopped by the flower shop and bought a bouquet of 6 roses ( I didn't know what else to get Confused ) and stopped by a local store to buy each woman a package which included perfume, bath products, and make up.

As I made my way to the designated house, I noticed that the streets were of bad condition and that I was know driving into the heart of the ghetto. Under street lamps I could make out prostitutes and drug dealers were at every corner Shocked I began to fear for my life, but the kick boxing lessons I began taking a month ago made me feel a bit more confident. Plus my mother told me to buy a tazer gun before I went-just in case Smile I sighed, what had I gotten myself into ?

I finally got to the house. Well it wasn't actually a HOUSE but it was some sort of housing complex. I knocked. No one answered. I knocked a second time and the door opened. Oh my GOD I almost chocked to death. smoke of cadar puffed into my face and had me gagging and it took me a few moments before I could make out the figure at the door. She was a rather plump lady (not fat) and well into her fifties. I was a bit surprised because she wore one of those colorful Seneglese robes and had this HUMONGOUS SUPERSIZED head dress. I could tell she was Somali by the crooked yellow teeth.

"HI. You must be Jazminda's mother." I smiled.

"Jazmindas MOTHER !!??? Naayaa dhoocileey I AM Jazminda !!! " She leered angrily at me the spittle from her mouth hit me on the face. Eww!! I recovered quickly, wiping my face with my sleeve and forced a laugh.

"I'm just joking, you know me..." I stared at her with wide eyes. Oh My GOd she WAS old.

"Hurrmph. Come on in, let me introduce you to the rest of the crew" She turned around and let me into the smoky house. The paint was peeling from the dirty brown stained walls. The beige carpet was stained with yellow puddles. We entered the small living room, by now I was sweating profusely and had a strong compulsion to cover my nose from the horrible odors the cadar was unable to cover up.

Jazminda stopped suddenly and waved toward the five woman sitting in the room.

"Ladies, here is Studente. Now let me go get some drinks for you all." She then scurried away.

I looked around the room and smiled. "Is ka waran ?"

"Hello studente !" A voice boomed. I looked to my left and saw this guy advancing toward me. OH . What was a guy doing here.

"I'm Hannah. Soodowoow! " I looked a bit closer and noticed SHE was actually not a guy. The narrow hips and the flat chest and the plaid pants had gotten me confused." She turned around and started introducing everyone.

"That is Gogarad". A quivering, uncertain hand went up.

"Hi.Nice to meet you Studente" I stared at her for some time, OK I'm not really very discreet. There was something strange about her. I glanced back a second time and realized what it was. Her body was of disproportinate size !! It looked like she had diligently been working out in the gym, her upper body seemed very lean and well muscled but she seemed to have forgotten to work her lower body. Below her stomach everything seemed to BLOW UP. She had HUMONGOUS thighs and bulging with fat legs. I could make out every layer of cellulite. She was wearing nothing under her diric (eww!).

"How do u do" I replied.

"And that is Basra over there" Hannah pointed out. Sitting at the far corner was Basra. I was surprised-she wasn't fat as every one has claimed. Actually, she looked rather anorexic. Her cheek bones portruded sharply and she had quite a skeletol frame. I had this HUMONGOUS compulsion to run out the room and acll 911. she seemed to be breathing very shallowly and licked her lips every 2 seconds. And I noticed another strange thing: she seemed to be wearing a corset under her diri Laughing Oh my God, I didn't think she would take her old fuddy duddy romance books THAT seriously.

"How do you do" I replied again.

"And right over there is Amatallah".

"Salaam Studente. I am Amatallah." I stared back at a woman that was wearing a volumnious black robe that covered her from head to toe. I smiled to myself-I indeed was very pious. But she had excessive make up on. She was wearing a lot of rouge that made her face look crazy. The eyeliner was way over done and she was wearing BRIGHT pink lip stick. She seemed to be younger than I thought though, she seemed to be in her late 20's.

"And right over there is Sexy Kitten. She is my younger cousin, 4 times removed" Hannah emphasized. I looked over at Sexykitten and nearly gasped. She seemed to be 15 or 16 years old ! She had short cropped hair and wore rather large glasses. When she smiled it was not very hard to notice the braces. It was those very cheap kind that made you look as if you had a telephone wire wrapped around your teeth.

Before Hannah was able to introduce Axlaan this man, he seemed to be near his 40's, stepped into the room.

"HEY bitchhes!! You started the meeting without me ?" He yelled. He wore a macawuus and kept scratching his but with vigor. He stopped and grinned, staring around the room. I'm not sure which part of his body the foul order that heralded his arrival came from.

"Who is THAT" I asked.

Hannah whispered, that is lionheart."

"He's part of the nayaa crew !!! " Shocked

"Yep."

"WHY" I asked in astonishment.

Hannah stared back at me as if I had just missed the obvious.

"Well you know...

"No, I don't know."

" You know" She repeated. She leaned forward and whispered "He's a..a....ahem, you know..a..." She started to stutter.

I stared at her for a moment not comprehending.

"He's a what!!??"

Hannah finally in exasperation and anger yelled "He is a DAMN ...."

I stared at her for a moment not comprehending.

"He's a what!!??"

Hannah finally in exasperation and anger yelled "He is a DAMN homosexual"

My jaws dropped in shock and my eyes bulged in astonishment.

"WHAT?! Are you serious"??"

"Yes" Hannah affirmed.

"But OH my Goodness I thought he liked girls , didn't he have that fling with Amatallah ?"

"No, not Amatallah but he does like girls too" She looked at me knowingly.

"You don't mean to tell me he's a.."

"Yep" Hannah cut me off with an affirmative followed by a look of distaste mingled with a look of desperate yearning.
