Islamist Al-Shabaab political and regional officer Sheikh Hussein Ali Fidow has praised the solidarity his group received from foreign fighters against the Transitional Federal Government in Somalia.

Sheikh Fidow warned Somalis against calling the ‘Muslim brothers,’ aliens.

Speaking in Mogadishu, Sheikh Fidow responded to claims from government officials that foreign combatants were fighting alongside Al-Shabaab fighters in the latest clashes in Mogadishu.

Sheikh Fidow made it clear that foreign fighters were in Somalia offering his movement solidarity.

“Jihadists from all corners of the world have been here with us since we confronted the infamous warlords in Mogadishu three years ago,” said Sheikh Fidow.

“They have been coming to Somalia to fight the ‘enemy of Allah,’ including the Ethiopian troops, the African peacekeepers and those who brought them to the country,” he added.

Sheikh Fidow termed the AU...[Kuffar]..from Uganda and Burundi aliens, who should pay permission fees to stay in Somalia.

“Ugandans and Burundians, who are here illegally, should be called aliens, not the international jihadists,” said the sheikh.

The cleric asked the Somali people to reciprocate the good job done by the international jihadists.

“These people left luxuries in their countries to sacrifice for the Somali people to have an Islamic state,” said Sheikh Fidow.

Heavy clashes have been going on between the pro-government forces and the mainly radical Islamists.

The radicals include the Al-Shabaab movement and the Islamic Party led by Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, who returned from exile in Asmara in Eritrea in April.

Human rights activists believe that hundreds have died, bigger numbers have been wounded and thousands others displaced by the latest upsurge of violence.

Islamists in upcountry regions offered their solidarity to those who have been fighting the government forces in Mogadishu since last Thursday.

Somalia: Foreign fighters are 'our Muslim brothers': Al Shabaab

MOGADISHU, Somalia May 12 (Garowe Online) - A senior member of Somalia's Al Shabaab Islamist faction has defended the presence of foreign fighters from across the Muslim world who are fighting against the interim government in Mogadishu, Radio Garowe reports.

Sheikh Hussein Ali Fidow, the Al Shabaab head of politics, told a Tuesday press conference in Mogadishu that the foreign fighters came to Somalia in 2006.

"They came when the fighting started [in Feb. 2006] between [Mogadishu] warlords and Islamists and they decided to help their Somali brothers," Sheikh Fidow said.

He said he considers "only non-Muslims as foreigners," but defended foreign Islamists in Mogadishu as "ready to liberate Somalia" and warned people not to label them 'foreign fighters'.

Further, Sheikh Fidow was strongly critical of the Islamic mediation committee, led by Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Salad as chairman, by suggesting that the committee takes orders from interim Somali President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed.

"The so-called [Islamic] scholars take direct orders from Villa Somalia [presidential palace] and their decision is intended to support the government and AMISOM [African Union peacekeepers]," he added.

The Islamic scholars had declared that President Sheikh Sharif "accepted a ceasefire" but the there was no response from the opposition. READ: President 'accept ceasefire,' death toll hits 15

He accused AMISOM peacekeepers of "mercilessly bombarding" civilian areas, warning the Mujahideen [Islamist fighters]: "Do not fight to defend AMISOM."

There is no reliable statistics on the number of foreign fighters active in Somalia, but Mogadishu residents expressed serious concern about the number of foreign fighters seen publicly alongside Al Shabaab during the past five days of heavy fighting in the seaside capital.

Somali government officials, including President Sheikh Sharif and Security Minister Omar Hashi, have accused the armed opposition of using foreign fighters to attack government targets.

The U.S. government considers Al Shabaab to be a terrorist organization.

the highest duty of muslims is to fight for their deen/land against kuffar and apostates aggression against their deen and land, and to make the word of allah swt the highest. and our islamic path and history proves it: they're covered in blood. sad but true.

I consider anyone who says the Shahada a Muslim, ina-mal a'maal bil-niyaah. Only Allah knows who's a Muslim & who is not, that is 'ilm-al-ghaib. Not our place to accuse everyone who is against us to be a kaaffir or a murtad. Al-shabaab are shelling Muslim homes, so many civilians are dying by what they're firing. How will they excuse it? They're accusing former Maxaakiim leaders like Sh. Janaqow & Sh. C/qaadir Cali Cumar who never left Somalia, but stayed and fought the Ethiopians of being murtads. This is a shame, if they die like this, they're in serious trouble. Its in their best interest to repent and leave the poor people alone.

Evidence? This is the most ridiculous slander against Shaykh-al-Islaam. Even the street vendor in the Muslim world knows one of the things that leads to apostasy is to insult the religion & the Prophet (saw), to hate any part of it or poke fun at it, let alone insulting Allah (swt). Ninyoho, qaaf rabak and leave the dead man alone. I dare you to bring forth any proof regarding this matter, not that I think you will find it, but still I want to see you try.

As for a person becoming a murtad, the criteria as far as the Shari'ah is concerned is if the Muslim himself says that he has apostasized and refuses to return to the religion of Islam. Then his blood becomes legal to spill and a hadd punishment can be done on him. But if there's no evidence to show that he is practicing another religion or that he has not confessed to it himself, then it becomes illegal to kill him/her.

Are you more knowledgeable than Sh. Shariif C/Nuur & Cumar Faarooq? Listen to their fatwas regarding Takfiir and spilling the blood of the Muslims. You obviously have much to learn. And how do you justify the killings of women and children?
