This may be too radical but what if we, the Diaspora living abroad, collectively denounced what is happening in Somalia by withholding the one thing that we control. Money! Just think....lets pick a month, say July, whereby no one sends any money to anyone in Somalia as a token gesture of the current violence and in honor of Somali Independence.
I am not being cold here, but we all know that at the end of the day the monies we all send, end up supporting one group or another.
We can get a petition going - we've got more than a month to get publicity for it. Get people from all over the world to sign it. Becuase as you can imagine those in the Diaspora abroad are all feeling as helpless as we are. All we do abroad is digest the bad news and then send money. So if we withhold all monies, with the exception of funeral costs, family, and the refugees and such, our complete distaste for what is happening will be heard.

And who is gonna feed them for that entire month?? they are struggling as its.. you add that by witholding their monthly masruuf..you might as well tell them to join the fight and die there.

The coupling of the much-anticipated international fundraising effort for Somalia with the running operational cost for the 4000-plus African Union troops in Somalia seem a bit out of place. The real shocker of the UNPOS statement comes to the fore, however, when one reads the last two paragraphs of the one-page media release. UNPOS states that the priority of Somalia is a mere 31 million dollars for 16 thousand police and security personnel for Mogadishu compared to the whopping 134 million financial requirements of the 4300 Ugandan and Burundi troops in Somalia.
fah
Dont boicott them victims..continue to send the 10-20-50-100 dollar remittance to them,it keeps them alive
Okay , here's my idea.
Basically we're a microcosm here of the larger Somali society, right?
Can those in here who by their tribal belonging support the various factions come to an HONEST agreement ?
I'll take myself as an example --> I am Isaaq and I support Somaliland right ?
I'm sure people will oppose me for various reasons , I am however ready to compromise with any reasonable guy out here .
Can you FAH state who you support, why ? and are ready to negotiate for the sake of peace?

The United Nations Political Office for Somalia, otherwise known as UNPOS, recently released what it termed as a Media Summary on Somalia Brussels Meeting. In it, UNPOS announced that on April 22-23 2009, who-is-who of world leaders will converge on Brussels and ostensibly, the primary objective of this gathering is to raise funds for Somalia and for the African Union (AMISOM) forces currently stationed in the country.
Ambassador Ould-Abdallah, the United nations Special Representative for Somalia and the top diplomat of UNPOS, brokered the peace that led to the establishment of the current government of national unity in Somalia. One would have hoped, since the ambassador accumulated extensive experience of what ails Somalia, that he would take the next logical step and implore the international community to provide the billion dollars that Somalia desperately requires in order to sustain the current peace and build functioning national institutions. Instead, the UNPOS office opted to lump up Somalia’s pressing life and death needs with the financial requirements of the African Union troops. Moreover, in the UNPOS calculation, each of the 4300 Ugandan and Burundi soldiers could earn $2,600.00 per month while the projected funding for each Somali soldier is $1,900.00 per year.
One would assume that an international gathering of such stature and magnitude would seriously focus on the need to resuscitate the Somali state, for Somalia is shattered for decades by civil war and political turmoil. Since everything is indeed a priority of priorities for the fledgling Somali government, even a detached observer could easily appreciate that a token 31 million dollars would not make a dent in ushering a genuine peace and lasting political solution in Somalia.
The globally felt negative consequences of the twin scourges of radicalization and piracy proof to the international community that the multifaceted Somalia challenge could no longer be contained within the Somalia borders. In order to therefore end the catastrophic humanitarian crises unfolding in Somalia since 1991, and at the same time, prevent the existing lawlessness in Somalia to threaten international peace and security, the participants of the Brussels Somalia Donor Conference must go beyond the meager UNPOS Somalia projections.
Among the core and immediate needs of the three-months old Somali government include, institution building, security, justice sector reconstitution, coastal protection and antipiracy programs, rehabilitation of physical infrastructure, emergency humanitarian relief, demobilization of two hundred thousand ex-combatants and rapid reconciliation programs.
Somalia priorities are much broader than UNPOS projections.

Better option would be to send them only food and medicine, instead of Mr Bidaar.
that way there will be no money for Khat, Arms, and other elicit activities.
oh sh1t, I remembered that Somalis are good at bartering
The best way is this...go around every town in the south...ask the ppl do they want shabab and state what their policies is to the people or the tfg and state what their policies...conduncting an polling use an online one if they can't hold public one..if the majority want shabab let them have it...if they want the tfg let them have it...both sides must admit they will not resist the votes of the people if their do ethiopia will come in and wipe them out and this time wipe them completly..
The corruption just incase some ppl might mislead the voter who is illerate or something...thats where the online voting is good cause u can just use voice...its kind of like this the machine asks the person u want the tfg or shabab, the person responds shabab or tfg..machine say thanks your done..and next person does the same thing...untill all are done...online database tally it up real quick...results out in 2 days...just gotta watch the corruption some might change the database around if they dont like what their seeing...thats where survellance cameras come in handy to monitor the person near the computer..
First and foremost, the majority of the money sent over to Somalia does not fund any group, and your assertions are baseless. The people we send money to use it to eat, not to kill.
