Rapper Eminem stormed out of the MTV Movie Awards to howls of derision after Sacha Baron Cohen's spoof gay fashion presenter landed, semi-naked, in his lap
By Tim EdwardsFIRST POSTED JUNE 1, 2009Bad boy rapper Eminem stormed out of the MTV Movie Awards last night after a thorough tarring and feathering by gay TV presenter Bruno (played by comedian Sacha Baren Cohen).
The spoof fashionista, wearing angel wings with only a jock strap and a Roman soldier's belt to protect his modesty, was there to present an award. But his spectacular entrance ended in humiliation for Eminem (aka Marshall Mathers), who had been hoping to cement his comeback with his earlier live performance.
Bruno soared high above the A-list crowd (see video) in the auditorium of Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal Studios on wires, proclaiming, "Ich bin Bruno." However, his hilarious stunt quickly descended into farce as he appeared to complain about his "kookensack". It quickly became clear that the blood had been cut off to his genitals.
‘Don’t touch me, guys, I’ve already got a boyfriend’
At this point, Bruno was lowered into the crowd, landing upside down in Eminem's lap (pictured above), with this rear end in the rapper's face. Outraged, Eminem, shouted, "Are you f-king serious?" Before ordering the burly minders sitting next to him to "get this motherfucker off me".
Bruno fearlessly continued to mock Eminem and his minders, saying coquettishly, "Don't touch me, guys, I've already got a boyfriend." And, "Can we continue this in my hotel room?"
As the likes of Cameron Diaz sat laughing hysterically or gasping in disbelief, Bruno was finally hoisted away. Still dangling, he announced a thoroughly upstaged Zac Efron as the winner of the award for best film performance for his role in High School Musical.
The post-award chat has all been about whether Eminem was in on the stunt. MTV, being very much a mainstream music channel, is unlikely to risk the ire of a hip-hop megastar, after all.
However, there are reasons to believe it was a nasty surprise for Eminem. Besides the utter humiliation of a hard-man rapper having the bum of a gay character shoved in his face, Bruno also asked the outraged Eminem, "Is the real Slim Shady about to stand up?"
This was clearly a reference to the rapper's video for his song, The Real Slim Shady, in which as well as mocking Pamela Anderson and Britney Spears, Eminem, dressed as a superhero, rubs his naked bottom in the face of a young man who later turns out to be a boy band singer.
