That's because abakar is a daanyeer. SSDF didn't even exist when these men were in the picture.


These 17 men were all executed by Siad Barre on the 9th of april 1978 for attempting a coup d'etat in the heart of Mogadishu against Barre's government. The leader of the attempted coup was the man on top of the list, Colonel Ciro, a Reer Khalaf. They were killed by miltary salvo, same way as the wadaads. Coincidentally, that same night Hadraawi was released from prison.

Colonel Ciro coordinated the attack on Siad Barre together with Colonel Abdullahi Yusuf, who was operating outside of Mogadishu. There was a miscommunication between them which lead to Colonel Ciro launching his mission to soon, consequently Colonel Abdullahi Yusuf wasn't able to provide backup support to fight off the government troops in Mogadishu.

Colonel Ciro and his men were thus captured and Colonel Abdullahi Yusuf and all the men with him fled to Ethiopia. The first group were all executed and the latter group, with the inclusion of more opposition figures formed the SDAF in Addis Ababa, later renamed and restructured SSF in Nairobi and the future SSDF.


Abdullahi Yusuf created division amongst the ranks by adopting a dictatorial style. With the withdrawal of support from Mengistu, SSDF was on lifesupport.

Then the famous Kiss of Death came from Siad Barre, who for reasons like this incident was called the cunning old hyena by friends and foes. He invited all the Dhafoorqiiq (nickname of SSDF) to Mogadishu as part of Cafis Program in the name of Darod walalnimo. Many Dhafoorqiiq came out of the bush of Ogadenia and surrendered. ALL of them, were transferred to Hargeisa and Berbera as SNA commanders and chiefs under General Gani (who had a Cumar Maxamuud mother) and later General Morgan, with a clear instruction: to make life hell for the people of that region.


This is why history books say that Siad Barre was a genius in playing the Somali clans against each other.

are you implying that the former government did not target supporters of SSDF but that the former government targeted innocent civilians who had nothing to do with SSDF? , Walaal, understanding that mistakes were done by the former government like all governments, why do you think its OK for SSDF to kill people who happened to be from the same tribe as the head of state?
