Making a Life in Africa

I'm looking for any professional advice on this matter.
After the next school year and completing my general accountancy requirements, I plan on moving to Africa. At this point, everything has been put into plan and will be finalized once I clear any debts I have and smooth out anything I might be leaving behind, all bills and saying good-byes, and other things I'll be forfeiting.
Simply "going to Africa" isn't my plan, its too ignorant. I want to deviate a little bit from the college-marriage-death cycle my life and all of yours are probably going. This is mostly inspired by my dad, a freelancer who left college and somehow built a respectable lifestyle and a reputation. Seeing as I've already seen civil war, the worst is at least over. I have several plans, ranging from peace corps to simply saving up, packing, and trying life in Africa for a few months or years. Just something to experience so I don't continue to bother myself about the prospects of a different life.
If any of you, Dawwa9 for example, have experience in meddling in non-linear lifestyles, walk me through some college alternatives, especially in Africa, and especially profitable.
Thanks for any useful information.

Paidmonk I would advise you to take advantage of study abroad just so you can get a taste of the "non-linear" lifestyle in a appropriate and experimental setting. Traveling now while your life is settled around school is best. Doesn't your school have study abroad?

My school has study abroad, its all well and good, but that just doesn't seem enough for me. At the very least, I want to write a book on the events of my life. Going to Thailand with my Econ class isn't exactly my idea of non-linear. I want to spend a few years in the jungle, hunting elephants, maintaining the treasuries of warlords, just some fucked up shit like my dad did when he left college.
I know an English journalist who left for Angola to assist rebels and still write reports for his press employers. That's the kind of stuff I want to get involved in. I'm in over my head, its a fact, but I want to do it and nothing will stop me.
This topic is sort of like a condom promotion; people WILL fuck, its best to just make sure they do it safely. I'm only asking for the best way to accomplish these bizarre objectives of mine.

DanGirl,
Good luck!. I had two buddies who'd just returned. One picked Africa and ended up with Rabat, Morocco, the other one Europe and ended up in Ukraine. They were always flown back and forth during the holidays (Twice a year, I think) expenses paid for and all, and are now both reaping benefits almost of the likes of a veteran, as they have Grad school deferments/scholarships and Government job waiting list preferences waiting for em. Not a bad thing at all.

Watch the Movie "Into the Wild," it should give you some ideas.
