Somali divorce

I was talking to a good somali friend that I know well. She is married and she was going on about how she wants to be able to support her family financially so thats why she is studying now. I said to her well, you shouldnt worry about providing the money for your family, in islam, it is the husbands duty to provide for his family financially. Then she stated that, her relationship with her husband is going well now but he could divorce her one day. She also said it is common for somalis to divorce. So is there a high divorce rate amongst somalis?
If the divorce rate is high amongst somalis, why is the divorce rate so high because apparently the divorce rate has increased alot for somalis since the past!

Divorce rate is high amongst our people and since a significant amount of the Somali population live in western countries where two incomes are required to sustain and live comfortably; both parties must be working.
The future is also not written in stone and you dont know whats going to happen, so always prepare for an exit strategy; i.e. if anything were to ever happen to break up your family (i.e. divorce, your husband gets ill and cant work, death) you have to be able to hold the family up.

I have my doubts that the current divorce rate is any greater than it was during the Sixties. More than half the people I knew were either divorced or had been involved in sequential marriages. It was said of one doctorad I knew that she had been married to three different army generals. I heard of an MJ man who claimed to have been married 120 times.

You must admit that Somali divorce is awfully easy.
