Suaal reer ogaaden..
First of all Salaam Aleykum dhamaantiin. Secondly I am not that informed about the Ogaden clan so I just wanted to ask you guys a question. I know their are vast numbers of Ogaden who live in Somalia proper(current somalia including PL&SL) and also have degaans - mostly in the jubba regions. However my question is: historically speaking do the Ogaden clan have degaans in Somalia proper? and if so which regions/cities/towns?

We live in Afmadow, Kismayo, Ras Kambooni, and Dhobleey, as well as villages in Bakool region.
To be 100% honest, we are just property of Ethiopia, that's why they like to kick our asses in Afmadow and Dhobleey.

Re: Suaal reer ogaaden..
In the old days, Ogaden just like Marexaan lived in northern and central Somalia, they migrated westward and south because they had the might and the will to do so. The city called Caabudwaaq and it is surrounding area was inhabited by the Cabudwaaq of Ogaden. Many more places were originally Ogaden cities, due to migration the regional settling changed as recent as a hundred years ago. My grandfather is buried North of Galkacyo, his father by sanaag.

Re: Suaal reer ogaaden..
Thats very interesting because it seems most clans started from north especially sanaag. Like for example gadabursi, ciise, isaaq and darood where all buried in sanaag and have since all moved south/east/west. Ciise and gadabursi moved far west as did Isaaq but also south - some even say their are lost geeljires that mixed with the raxanweyn in bakool. As for darood well done to marehan as they moved the furthest south.sadeboi wrote:In the old days, Ogaden just like Marexaan lived in northern and central Somalia, they migrated westward and south because they had the might and the will to do so. Btw, honestly speaking who lived in kismayo the longest was it marehan or ogaden or others?
Re: Suaal reer ogaaden..
Raxanweyn has a lot of clans in them.
Actually Ogaden moved further South, but then I heard of Marexaan sub-clans living in wierd places in Kenya. Marka I am not sure, what I am sure about is that the said clans really changed the geographical settlement of Somalis. Much of the south was inhabited by Orormo and boraan until they were kicked out. Now Kismaayo was a city, back then a small trading center. However, jubboyinka as a region, I would say rougly the same time did they come. But in Gedo Marexaan, reer-guri or first settlers came there before any Somali.

Also I forgot about nfd, lol, I was only thinking about somalia but I forgot somalis have moved all the way down to northern kenya. I guess only warsengeli and dhulbahante haven't travelled that far for darood clans.
Re: Suaal reer ogaaden..
Besides Absame and SADE, Darood clans haven't migrated, even Majeertaan clan did not come by land migration to Kismayo, the only place they inhabit in South Somalia, they came by means of boats with the colonialist. And Some after coming to Muqdisho. The furthest Majeertaan went was ceelbuur during Kenadiids day's.

Re: Suaal reer ogaaden..
As for Ogaden where are they most numerous in: south, north or central? - this includes all somali lands
Re: Suaal reer ogaaden..
Ogaden badankiis, ama tiradiisa waa Ogadeniya, the biggest clans lives there. They inhabit large amounts of land; From Jigjiga to Xudur (Ethiopian border of Bakool). Absame in general (abasame being like Gerxajis and Ogaden being like haberyonis) mostly live there, Reer-Isaaq and all of Maxamed Zubeyr, Talamooge (Cabduwaaq iyo Cabdalle), Bah-Gheri, Makahiil, Reer-Scad, Gumcadle, . The Second place I would assume is Somali proper mostly in Jubboyinka iyo Bakool, Cawliyahan and Maxamed-Zubeyr ba dego. In NFD if I am not mistaken qabiilka ugu badan waa cabdalleha.

Koonfurta dalka Soomaaliya iyo ------ jubooyinka( kismayo, afmadow, dhoobley, jilib, etc) iyo bakool regions(hudur, ceel barde, etc).
Waqooyi Bari dalka Kenya.(garissa zone, IJARA zone, etc)
ogaden has inhabited many place's far and wide, and yes they came the furthest south, and if it wasnt for the british clans like ogaden and marehan would probably be in central africa.
the majority of ogaden live in the ogaden region in ethiopia.
