The somali people appreciation thread

Post by Elan Morin Tedronai »

Now we all have our differing political views on the current conflict, how to solve them, who to blame etc etc. Let's for one moment put that aside. Just for one moment. Let's all think as somalis for a second. Let's ponder this raging conflict of 18 years. Let's look at the women, children and the men of somalia. The refugees and dispossessed. For 18 years somalis have this calamity upon them. Lives lost, property lost, livelihoods lost and in spite of all the people who bore the brunt of such destruction are patient. They are proud to be muslims. I just saw a report on bbc where a white journalist was interviewing somalis. Wallahi i never seen a people so steadfast in their faith so patient inspite of all the hardship and difficulties in life. They all put us to shame. Any person would start to question why o Allah have you put such problems on me or what i have done to deserve this?

Not these people though. So this thread is dedicated to them. These people who suffered for so long and continue to suffer. Let's us appreciate these people, our people for i have never seen people so resolute in their faith inspite of everything. Alot of somalis seem to be ashamed of their ethnicity here in the west. I don't think any one of us can hold a candle to these suffering somalis, their patient attitude, their preservance and their attitude to their deen.

So i ask you fellow muslims, regardless of idealogies or political views or where your allegiances lies, lets put that aside for a moment. I ask you this. Everytime you pray your salah do a dua for our suffering people. You owe it to them as a muslim and a somali. So let's appreciate our people and may Allah help deliever our people from this pain and suffering into peace and happiness inshallah.
Do you think that you will enter Paradise without any trials
while you have known the examples of those who passed away before you?
They were afflicted with suffering and adversity
and were so violently shaken up that even
the Messenger and the believers with him cried out:
"When will Allah's help come?"
Then they were comforted with the words,
Be aware! Allah's help is ever close.
[Al-Baqarah - 2:214]
We shall surely test your steadfastness with fear and famine, with loss of property, life and produce.
Give good news to those who endure with patience; ¤
who, when afflicted with calamity, say: "We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return." ¤
Such are the people on whom there are blessings and Mercy from Allah;
and they are the ones that are rightly guided.
[Al-Baqarah, 2:155-157]

Malcolm X said once "Our people have made the mistake of confusing the methods with the objectives. As long as we agree on objectives, we should never fall out with each other just because we believe in different methods, or tactics, or strategy.."

Samething happening in somalia.
