A Pirate Inside United States Congress

It is very unfortunate that elected US Congress invite the sponsor of piracy in Somalia. A man that UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon accused for sponsoring and harboring the piracy: Puntland Leader Cabdiraxman Faroole. Chairman of Committee for African Affairs at US Congress Mr. Payne invited all administrations within former Somalia including Foreign Minister of Transitional Government of Somalia Mr. Oomar, Puntland Leader Cabdiraxman Faroole, and Foreign Minister of the elected Government of Somaliland Abdullah Dualeh.


Both Mr. Oomar and Mr. Dualeh rejected to participate in meeting along with Faroole due to Faroole’s illegal support to piracy. Moreover, Faroole owns money-making machines, and produces fake currencies like US Dollar, Ethiopian Birr and others. Faroole held meeting with pirate gang leaders in many occasions at Garowe City – Capital of Puntland. The question is why he did not arrest the pirates?!

The absence of Mr. Oomar and Mr. Dualeh angered Mr. Payne who vowed to support Puntland, without knowing the true nature inside Puntland region of Somalia. Mr. Payne failed to understand the true identity of the man he is meeting inside the most legitimate house in the world. He failed to unveil that Faroole is red-handed in piracy and even used the ransom money to win election. Mr. Payne failed to understand that Faroole distributed $50,000 to every MP in Puntland Parliament against his/her vote. He disrespected the reports of Anti-Piracy, United Nation and Think Tanks groups.

This is part of frequent wrong US policies towards former Somalia, which always calls for failed unity of Somalia and overlooks the growing democracies in the region like Republic of Somaliland. The US supports the shaky transitional government of Somalia in Mogadishu for last 20 years without results. US Congress and Government wasted enough money to restore hope in Somalia; however, it is time to look into other alternatives like Somaliland. Somaliland established democratic government without outside aid.

Puntland hosts thousands of Somali pirates without proper action taken against them; even the pirates are considered “Kings in Piratestan”. They marry most beautiful girls and own luxury cars and houses.

Mr. Payne said “The Somaliland foreign minister accepted our invitation but last week the government requested if the Subcommittee could have a separate panel for the Foreign Minster. The reason: the Somaliland representative did not want to be part of the panel with the President of Puntland and the TFG representative. We informed the Somaliland government that their request was unacceptable and defeats the main purpose of this hearing.”

Answer: Mr. Payne must know that Somaliland is no longer part of Former Somalia, and it has nothing to do with it in last 20 years. Somaliland declared independence from Somalia on 18th May 1991, and can meet elected leader from Somalia only, to discuss the final settlement of Somaliland-Somalia relations. Somaliland united with Somalia on 1st July 1960 in search of Greater Somalia, but such theory failed due to vicious and wrong bases of the unity.

Somaliland was fighting terrorism in last 19 years, and the world knows that Al-Shabab – Al-Qaida linked terrorist group in Somalia – hit UN Headquarter and Ethiopian Embassy at Hargiesa – capital of Somaliland, along with Somaliland Presidential House on 29th Oct 2008. More than thirty people lost their lives in the attack.

Al-Shabab assassinated foreign aid workers in Borame, Hargiesa, Sheikh City, and Hargiesa-Berbera Road. All this is happening because of Somaliland’s pro-western policies. Somaliland police fooled many terror plots in Hargiesa during 2003 Presidential, Parliament and Municipality Elections. The people and authorities of Somaliland are all united against terrorism.

Mr. Payne suggested that Somaliland Forces shall be sent to Mogadishu to fight Al-Shabab terrorists and help the shaky transitional government of Somalia. Does Mr. Payne know that decision of sending troops to Mogadishu belongs to elected MPs? Will Somaliland Tax Payers accept their money to be used in liberating Mogadishu?!

Today, Somaliland Regional Water is very much saver with no pirates operating. Thanks to Somaliland Coastal Guard and Berbera Marine College that produces 100 well-trained Navy Officers every year. Somaliland contributed safety, Anti-Piracy and Good relation with its neighbors, in return the world imposed diplomatic embargo on Somaliland, and doesn’t want to appreciate or realize Somaliland efforts to crackdown pirates and terrorism in the region. USA should be shame of itself for not supporting democracy in Horn of Africa.

US Navy stationed Djibouti (Somaliland’s northern neighbor) coordinates with Somaliland Navy and provide information about activities in the sea, because Somaliland doesn’t have high-tech navigation and radar system. US Defense Secretary Robert Gates advised Bush Administration to recognize Somaliland and establish US Military Base (African Command) in Somaliland.

Mr. Payne shall know that Somalia was result of unconditioned union between British Somaliland (today’s Somaliland) and Italian Somalia (Today’s Somalia). This illustrates that Somaliland brought 50% of the unity. Thanks to brave and honest people of Somaliland, who later lost everything to the unity and to their brothers in Southern Somalia, and Somalilanders re-liberation their country again on 18th May 1991.

Mr. Payne said “The Government of Puntland has sent an estimated 1,000 troops to assist in the fight against the terrorists in south-central Somalia. This is commendable. I hope this hearing leads to greater cooperation between the three regions.”

Answer: This is unfortunate reply by US Congressman elected by the pro-democracy people of New Jersey. Mr. Payne shall know that Puntland sent troops to Mogadishu because the Former Transitional President of Somalia Colonel Abdullah Yusuf was originally and tribesman of Puntland. Puntland send the troops to support their interest in Mogadishu but not helping Somalis in Mogadishu… All 1,000 troops from Puntland were all Majeerteen tribe, and wanted to install their kinsman Yusuf on power.

Puntland troops committed inhuman killing, looting and raped in Mogadishu on the bases of old tribal bad feelings between Majeerteen tribe of Puntland and Hawiyo tribe of Mogadishu. The troops wanted to take revenge of killing of Puntland’s tribesmen by General Mohamed Farah Aydiid of Mogadisyhu tribe during collapse of Siyad Barre regime 1991.

Puntland troops were to execute well-planned genocide and killing against the innocent civilians in Mogadishu. Puntland Troops shelled the civilians of Mogadishu indiscriminately, which led Yusuf to lose public support. The Al-Shabab Islamists started gaining public confidence due to revenge killing by Puntland Troops and Abdullah Yusuf.

Advice to Mr. Payne:
The people of Somaliland decided their faith to stay out of failed Somalia; they established constitution, army, police, jails authority, cabinet, elected parliament and municipality; they created education syllabus until university for their children; they created democratic and modern state that can promote democracy and good governance in the middle of region dominated by dictators and kings; they established biometric technology in the election to ensure freeness and fairness.

My recommendation is that United States of America shall recognize Somaliland diplomatically and use Somaliland as strong ally in the region like Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq and KSA. This will give US government access to the region, and even ask Somaliland Forces to step in Somalia soil to eliminate terrorists like Al-Shabab similar to Ethiopian campaign inside Somalia on 2006.

US government shall not disappoint the free people of Somaliland who promoted democracy without democracy analyzers and crisis consultants. For your information, Mr. Payne, the piracy is inside Puntland Presidential Palace and controlled by the first family in Puntland.

Pirate Son of Puntland Leader: Like Father Like Son

The world community including United Nation (UN) accused Puntland for sponsoring piracy. In 2008, many ships were hijacked and millions of dollars poured in the hands of pirates as ransom. International Marine Companies and Governments paid to ensure safety of their crew. The ransom is circulated within Puntland and pirates are considered “Heroes” that protects the Somali water.

Somaliland, France and USA arrested pirates who all belong to Puntland. Six of these arrested pirates are very close relatives of Faroole and former President of Somalia Abdullah Yusuf.

USA and France used force to rescue their compatriots from the hands of pirates. In such operations, the forces killed and arrested pirates including those serving lifer in USA and France. “The Smiling Pirate” captured the attention of New York media, prior to his arrival to face court. All these pirates are from Puntland.

In 2008, Yemen President pressured Puntland Administration to release hijacked Yemeni vessel, because Yemen knows that pirates are nothing but gangs of Puntland administration. However, the Puntland administration instructed the pirates to release the Yemeni ship, and swiftly it was released. This illustrates strong relation between Puntland and pirates.

The current leader of Puntland Cabdiraxman Faroole used the ransom money to win last election. He distributed $50,000 to every MP who votes for him in Puntland Parliament.

The pirates move freely at the streets of Garowe (regional capital of Puntland), and even some opened factories to assemble the speedboats used for hunting the ships at international water. There are money-making machines controlled by Cabdiraxman Faroole and his elder son Maxamed Cabdiraxman Faroole (The Chief Editor and Owner of http://www.garoweonline.com).

The illegitimate and pirate president Faroole publish fake currencies including US Dollar, Ethiopian Birr, Somali Shilling and other African currencies. Faroole’s gangs sell the fake currency at local Somali Money Exchange Markets in Mogadishu and Garowe City. Knowingly the lack of fake money detectors because of the civil war, which enables gangs to earn true money in exchange of fake one.

The remittance money by Somali Diaspora is major victim of such fake currencies. Finally, Faroole saves the easy earned money in undeclared bank accounts outside Somalia.

However, the son Maxamed Cabdiraxman Faroole supports his father’s dirty business on the web, using his website http://www.garoweonline.com to mislead the world over the piracy and illegal money-making. Such attempts always ends with failure because the world including UN can examine and see the illegal and inhuman activities in different prospective, and the son’s website can’t deceive all.

Recently, Garowe Online published an article misleading the world over the true color of Maxamed Cabdiraxman Faroole (Faroole Jr.), and described him very good journalist who respect the ethics of journalist. This was an attempt to his involvement in the dirty business along with his father.

Faroole Jr. heads pirate groups with full backing of his father, and has an access to all Puntland security agencies. Nobody can stop the gangs of the son of the President, because piracy is first family’s business in Puntland.

During his return to Puntland, Somalia in mid 2006, Faroole Jr. established the online portal to hide his illegal agendas and even helped his father in the dirty business of piracy to finance father’s election campaign. The entire cabinet ministers including Minister of Security Ilka Jiir help the son in hunting the ships.

Freelance journalist in Puntland Abdullah Dheere, who investigated piracy in Puntland, accused the Faroole administration for sponsoring piracy and misleading the world by showing different face. He accused the son of Faroole (Faroole Jr.) for being the main leader of the piracy and even has full access to Puntland Presidential Palace, in addition to lack of fear from the security authorities because he is the son of the President!!!

The journalist underscored that Maxamed Cabdiraxman Faroole (Faroole Jr.) and his team hijacked the British owned vessel called (MALAYSIAPINES SHIP). The journalist unveiled involvement of another unnamed first family member involved in the operation along with Faroole Jr. The pirates received ransom of $2.5 million, and the money was saved in the account of Maxamed Cabdiraxman Faroole (Faroole Jr.). The journalist discovered that Faroole family changed the decoration of their house at Eyl City (Complete renovation), the pirate hub, using the ransom money.

He said that Mr Omar who is the foreign minister of somalia and mr dualeh who is the foreign minister of somafiland both failed to sit down and join the conference because of farole piracy. Support Puntland and i say that not because of qabiil but because they want somali unity so that somalis can be power-force against other african nations.
