Who coined the phrase...
Sheikh Hotel?
I see it in many threads and websites nowadays. I could swear it was my own invention but I’ve only come to this place a couple of weeks ago!
I remember the day clearly. It was in January earlier this year. I went to meet a friend at a Somali Cafe and noticed them watching the election of the new Somali president live on TV. I shrugged and told the regulars that Sheikh Hotel was going to win. One of the modern wadads who was sitting at the front and seemed to be immersed in the whole proceeding, took his eye away from the TV and swore at me (it was a Sh. Hotel sort of Cafe after all).
I am here to claim ownership of this phrase and will assume it is mine. Unless someone can come with better proof!
