I do not want to be in a nursing home nor would I want my parents in one.

Subxanallah, The day i put my mother or father in a nursing home may Allah take my life. Burden?, we were a burden to our parents for at least 30 years of our life and the minute we are independant we put them in a nursing home. Furthermore i would argue the existence of nursing homes is immoral, only justified in extreme cases were the elderly have nor relation or family.

can never imagine doing that. i want my mom to live right next to me, and when she cant finall take care of herself i wona make the two house into one big one, so my mom can keep being independent i know she likes beig independent and still live in the same house.

Macaaney, my father is actually at the age of nursing home, but he lives with us and we look after him, and we would never have it any other way.

Islamically it is our duty to look after our parents.

"And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, andgoodness to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) "Ugh" nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word. And make yourself submissively gentle to them with compassion, and say: O my Lord! Have compassion on them, as they brought me up (when I was) little." Holy Quran (17:23-24)

No way would I place my parents in a nursing home....they gave birth to me, put up with me, clothed and fed me...and then when they need me most I dump them in a nursing home??

Hell no! Ilaahayo nafta iga qaad hadaan if that ever happens. That's like a prison for the elderly. I don't even wanna think about it, it makes me sick!
