Religious rationale in supporting ONLF’s Fight
There is a clear religious rationale in supporting ONLF’s fight: a brutal, merciless enemy is occupying a Muslim land and that land must be liberated.
As a Muslim, you have a moral obligation to support them.
ONLF have a right to resist occupation and rightfully so, its more honorable to die on your feet than to live crawling on your knees.

Re: Religious rationale in supporting ONLF’s Fight
a recent fatwa by Sheikh Sharif Abdi Nur, a most respected and knowledgeable Somali cleric based in Saudi Arabia, who describes the Ogadeni rebels as Mujahideen and their war with Ethiopia as a legitimate jihad against Christian aggressors.2
The following lyrics are drawn from one of the most famous songs ONLF cadres recite to instigate supporters during public gatherings.
Axmed guray ma uu dhiman Ma gablamin darwiishkii Geenyaduu ma daalanaa.
It can be roughly translated as follows:
Ahmed Guray has never died, The Dervish has never lost, and The horse is not retired.
Accordingly, if one recognizes that religion had a big influence in Ahmed Guray’s and Sayid Mohammed’s struggles against Abyssinia, there is no reason to deny that in the current conflict between the ONLF and the Ethiopian government religion has a place as well.

Well its not an Islamic one it’s a national and there is nothing wrong with being nationalistic , the Ethiopian government do have muslim and Christian , its not like you want to separate from Ethiopia based on Ethiopias being muslim or Christians. The struggle of the onlf is a national one for its Ethnic people based on their heritage tribe and culture not a religious one
