How do you know if someone is on his/her way to mental breakdown?

Because us Somalis don't think someone has mental problem till they drop their cloths and run around like headless chicken.

Dude you can look in someones eyes and tell they are not right, scared, happy, sad etc.

I have this friend and he is one of coolest dude that I know. The last couple months the fella started to star at you while you are talking to him. He doesn't blink or make head movement. Also he will sometimes laugh even though no one was talking.
