More Al-Shabaab or Taliban-like insurgencies would be formed in almost every Muslim country. And in a few decades, those forces would unite and form the next Islamic Caliphate. That's the reality.

This was a weak insurgency for one reason:

-> There already IS Shariah law in ALL Muslim provinces AND the capital!
-> The president is Muslim and the military is in the hands of the Muslim elite!
-> Nigeria used to be a 50/50 Muslim/Christian nation but now Christians are like 3rd class citizens, they lost Lagos as the capital to Abuja which is deep in Muslim territory!
-> 96% of last election went to 3 Muslim-led political parties!

Its those reasons that there has never been a fundamentalist Islamic revolt in Nigeria, its probably the only half & half country where Muslims rule with an iron fist against the rest of the demographics.
