Ever heard of Buurta Daallo iyo Buuraha Calmadow. . Sanaag is the second largest region of Somalia and it's so peaceful but unfortunately the region has no major roads or major ports that would have facilitated trade or investment or linked the cities to their hinterland, yet its inhabitants managed to rebuild and welcome the IDPs from the South. Besides, it's linked to the growing port city of Bosaaso. In fact, the two regions are inhabited by the same people along with their kinsmen.
Sanaag Region has the potential of becoming the tourist destination of the country:
By Highland
1. Daallo and Calmadow have the most beautiful scrub greeneries with thick and swamped juniper forest -- Highlands from Erigavo-Elayu. (Hemming, 1966, Pichi-Sermolli 1955)
2.Clean and unspoiled beaches, seasonal rivers and streams that originate from the Golis Mountain Range(LaasqorayPort site). Laasmacaan Lugga River is located near the town..
3. Because of extensive research funded by the University of Georgia Research Foundation, a series of caves, rock shelters, many of which revealed paintings that depict long-horned humpless cattle, dromedary camel, human figures, goats and antelopes have been discovered, until it was stopped by Somali Government for unspecified reasons (Clark 1954, Brandt and Brook 1980).
4. There are currently three operating industries: fish processing plant, meat freezing plant and tannery plant--all in Laasqoray. (The community owns as well, the factory of mineral water in Hargeisa, and Tango as well as the factory of Pasta and other food production line)
5. There used to be, in Erigavo, Saw Mill factory as timber is naturally abundant in Sanaag mountains. (Looted by SNM)
5. Sanaag region is the only area in the whole country where peaches, large water melons, cabbages and few other fruits can be grown. There is also "foox' which is grown since the time of ancient Egypt. The foox/luubaan (frankincense and myrhh) is exported to the Middle eastern countries and Europe.
6. The tastiest meat in the country comes from Sanaag region as it's famous of a long tradition of sheep rearing in the Hadeed valley. In the Sool valley, it's abundant with camel stocks and horses.
7. And it has untapped mineral and oil reserves. In fact, regional connoisseurs once picked Sanaag region as a both gas and oil prone area. The report was published by American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Eastern Hemisphere(1991).
Save the trees from the charcoal mafia. These fockers are messing up the nation.
Charcoal traders have destroyed the Sool valley though the locals have formed special forces that deal with them. Rising #s of unemployed youth have no means to survive but to resort the destruction of all sorts of trees. We need a strong federal government.

This place is owned by a wing of HY and you want to give them easy access to Bossaso? Walle in a matter of months those crazy HY would be evicting the majerteens from Bossaso just like they did to those majerteen swirqons or whatever they are called from Cerigabo.
