The warlords are at it again
MOGADISHU, Somalia Aug 12 (Garowe Online) - Government forces in Somalia's capital Mogadishu have battled each other again, Radio Garowe reports.
The fighting started mid-day Wednesday around Mogadishu's Zoppe intersection after two groups of government forces opened fire on each other, witnesses said.
The warring sides, who were fighting for control of a key intersection, used assault rifles during the battle, but heavier weapons were later used.
At least four soldiers were killed and nearly 20 other people wounded, including civilians.
Local sources said the fighting soldiers were loyal to Somali national police chief, Gen. Abdi Qeybdiid, and Mogadishu's deputy mayor, Abdifatah Shaweye.
Neither official has publicly spoken about today's deadly battle.
