I have seen a lot of low moments for Somalis, but this weekend I was invited to a wedding where the couple got married simply because they both hailed from the same clan. Subhanallah! The bride is a good sister who teaches at our Masjid's weekend madrasah and the man she married is a known Khaat addict, she was told to stay away from him, but against all common sense has chosen to marry him. Why? Because they're from the same clan and hopes to change his "evil" ways. Haha!

These women marry these questionable men and then complain about mistreatment. War yaan been la isku sheegin, these people deserve each other. Waan ka sabray Soomaali. Choosing a spouse for qabiil reasons, what could be worse? Inkaar idinku dhacday dheh.

I know this sister and always wondered why she wasn't married. Never in a million years would I have expected her to marry this shady character. The guy never even prays at the Masjid. Unfortunately a lot of people lack your reasoning. Women usually get desperate and rush in to marriages because they think they won't find another one to marry. They marry from their qabiil thinking the man will treat them better and is safer that way, but doesn't always turn out that way. Everyday you see the ugliness of qabyaalad, even from people you never expected from.

its best to marry as close as possible within your blood. but of course not too close as you don't want to have retarded kid(s). lol. for example, a distant cousin of yours.

That is where you are wrong. Gabar inadeerta & you will have a special connection. Your house will be more welcoming. Your kinfolks more welcome. You can have your own tribal pow wows in peace and quiet. Your children will not have opposing kinsfolk

I do avoid certain clans for the sake of my future offspring. Last thing I want them is to have abtiyal who are anti-Adeer Or for them to be raised to look negatively at their adeers Not to mention, I am too much in love with my tol and am counted on. Last thing I want to do is ask the wife to take a hike for the next 5 hours. Or to switch up the conversation because she comes into the room. Or worse yet, explain to Abdi Jr. why his Rer Abti are not superior to his adeeryaal.
