An unholy alliance quest for the rich Jubba Valleys

In a conference on late July, 2001, the clan warlords of Ayr, Duduble, Murursade and Mareehaan communities had agreed on forming a common faction called the Jubba Valley Alliance (JVA), in an effort to sustain the uprooting of the inhabitants of the rich Jubba Valleys as part of their strategy to capture and own this valley.

The meeting for the creation of this faction took place at the official residence of Mr Abdiqasim Salad Hassan, the so-called president of "the Transitional Government of Somalia "(TNS), a faction recently formed in Djibouti in the guise of being an interim Somali government, but better known among the Somalis as "Arta Group".

The respective clans of the alliance put up the JVA militias. In the patch-up, the Ayr clan mustered 115 "technicals"- battlewagons - 70 of which were gained with the help of the financial aid by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Murarsade's force accounted for twenty-seven battle wagons led by Mohamed Qanyare, the TNS's minister of Fishing and Marine Resouces, while the Duduble militias supported by eighteen "technicals" owned by two prominent businessmen -Ibrahim Afgoye and Qorfane.

Marehan's forces led by Gen. Ahmed Warsame, Gen. Abdicasis Ali Barre and Col. Barre Hiiraale, accounted for a militias supported by nine battle wagons.

The Ayr contingent of the JVA militia was put under the command of Deyleef, a close relative of Mr. Abdiqasim Salad Hassan, Gen. Galaal, another relative of the same man and the players like Col. Seeraar, Goobaale and Cirfo. Part of this contingent was deployed in Balli Doogle zone while others were deployed in Shabelle, Lower Jubba and Upper Jubba Zones.

What is so saddening is that the JVA was deployed at the behest of a faction that calls itself "the transitional Somali government" and that the international economic aid to Somalia by well-meaning countries was channeled for the use as logistics support for these militias. This aid, which was never supposed to serve as fuel for the blaze in Somalia, had not only resulted in the displacement of large communities in most of the towns where the militias were deployed, but was instrumental in subjecting the residents of these areas to massacre, rape, displacement or intimidation.

Lol @ JVA was Marehan, Duduble, Cayr, and Murusade. Funniest part is Cayr had over 100 teknikos, beesha Kuwait aka Murusade had 27, and even nonexistent Duduble had 18 but the people who started, tookover, and consolidated and sat in Kismaayo of those "four" had only 9 teknikos in that alliance.

Young Royal the whole reason the name "Cayr" entered the political dictionary of the Somali people is because of the Majerten clan's refusal (shame) of saying Kismayo is in Marehan hands. It is like me losing a battle to my greatest foe, how can I face anyone so I choose to pin my defeat on an entity no one knows and dampens the ego bruisng I have been feeling. The irony here is Majerten were not even 20% of Morgan's SRRC forces.

Only illiterate and ignorant Somalis will expect you to take them seriously when they say the group who defeated me chose to handover the total control and settlement of the second largest city and the one with the deepest port in Somalia in the heart of the most productive land to a tag along that barely contributed 5% of the resources.

During Abdiqasims leadership under the late TNG, the Ceyr clan enjoyed a wide support from Habar Gidir since it was Abdiqasim's little project that gave them a footing in deep south. Money talks in Somalia and the TNG made Ceyr, so for you to say it was because of MJ's refusal to let your insignificant clan dictate things in Kismaayo that allowed Ceyr to entered politics is again your own bias opinion, as expect from a 20 year-old refugee living in Seattle who doesn't know what he's talking about.

It was Morgan and the SPM coalition that kept Habar Gidir at bay, and when the TNG came along in 2000 Morgan and the SPM coalition financially were no much, this is when the bidding started, unfourtinaly your clan being military and financially broken were the first auctioned by the highest bidder which at the time was Abdiqasim and his clan. I never said this, don't put words in my mouth. I said Cayr is really irrelavent to the whole issue in Kismaayo and Jubooyinka and even they will be the first to tell you. Marehan and Cayr are not blood brothers, it is pure business. Why would Cayr allow Marehan to usurp all power in a place both groups jointly fought for and had equal footing in? Let me remind you it is the Marehan that are synonymous with Kismaayo. It is the Marehan that ruled Kismaayo and Jubooyinka. The JVA brass was 95% Marehan and only had two cayrs in it (Goobaale and Seeraar with Seeraar being one of two deputy JVA chairman along with the Ogaadeen Abdirahman Waldiire who was killed by Al Shabaab a while ago). The only reason Cayr even got into the whole discussions surrounding Kismaayo's rule is because the MJs have made it their life-long dream to deny Marehan the right to say they tookover Kismaayo from Morgan and his majority SRRC troops as if the Majerten were the reason for Morgan being in Kismaayo.

Also, where are you getting this MJ refusing anything? Do you not know Morgan's governor of Kismaayo has always been Marehan, Abdullahi Wagad, or that because it was Marehan who broke the back of Cumar Jees for him, he always made sure to have Marehan sitting on some of the best tax producing spots while he traded around the Ogaden and Harti for their posts they shared? This kid is in a dream world.

Morgan was Marehan until 1996. In that year when the destruction of Marehan was starting with Al Itihad, Ethiopiam SNF, Morgan turned coat and he did it in a public way to send a signal to all the people who had a problem against us. He was opportunistic and it made sense, when your patron is down, why take the brunt from people after him? Funny you talk about 2007, cuz Hiiraale was not in Kismaayo when the Marehan civilians kicked out the Abdullahi Yusuf's Puntland army led by Afgaduud and the Ogaden led by Koojaar.

Also, Barre's family farm in Muuri, Baardheere was not robbed by anyone. Some little child soldiers in Al Shabaab tried to go there and took something but it was brought back within the hour by the Marehan head of Al Shabaab Gedo himself. I guess that is a political card for you. What does a situation involving inter-Marehan have to with Marehan vs. non Marehan?

I rather take a grown man's opinion then a 20 year-old refugee, the kid doesn't know what he is talking about since it seem he is reminiscing about some pic taken under AY's leadership. I don't think he is even talking about the same Abdiqasim (Ina Saladboy) that I'm referring to here, the man was supported morally and financially by both Djibouti and the Saudi Kingdom in his bid to lead Somalia, the same reason Puntland refuse to part take in the Carta conference in the first place since this was something that has been dragging way before TNG thing surfaced.

First I am not 20 years old and if I was a refugee/political asylee/immigrant whatever else I don't understand how another Somali can use that as a weapon against me especially me being Marehan and knowing I was the cream of the crop before Somalia self-destructed in 1991.
