two days ago, i went to a friend's place and they used xalwad to break the fast. i love, love xalwad. probably my favorite somali item to eat. but, really, i was shocked. i mean, not eating all day... and starting with sweet and oil? wtf? and then, of course, there was the other macmacaan, isbaramiinto (full of sonkor!), insanely full dates, fried stuff like sambuus... AND oodkac. daayuummm... that is a true heart attack on wheels! i think they were offended that i only had the lemonade.

but, really, who came up with this crap? whatever happened to breaking the fast with water, and then slowly having 'light' stuff?

how do you break your afur?

me-- water, salad... and then i have dinner later on couple hours later. (again, light stuff lol)
