Degemada Gacan Libaax ee Hargeisa is named after the majority of the people that live in Gacan Libaax mountains and East Hargeisa. East and North East Hargeisa is called Gacan Libaax and is settled by Isxaaq Carre who live in Caadaaley underneth Buuraha Gacan Libaax.

Buurta Gacan Libaax has two large Degmos Go'da Yar iyo Go'da Weyne. The entire mountains and Degmos is settled by Musa Cabdullah. There are no other clans. Underneath to the South is Gobolka Oodweyne and Degmada Cadaadaley ee isxaaq Carre.

buuraha gacan Libaax are famous because it is said that 'once upon a time many thousands of years ago before the people of Somali, before the people of the Galla (Orama) before them they used to be a people that had witnessed a old lion that had gone to the top of the mountains, hauling and growling for days and nights until he become a young warrior lion' then the somali say that old lion all over africa make the jorney stil..lol

Buurta gacan Libaax is situated on the belt of the long 'Golis' mountains that start in Diredawa and that finsihes in teh Indian Ocean. Shiekh, Dallo, Surad, Sarad, Shimbrila, Cal Modow are all on the Golis belt.

So the Somali named it the 'hand of the lion'

Site description Gacan Libaax (Ga'an Libah) is situated in the western part of the northern mountains, south of the coastal town of Berbera, extending westwards along the escarpment from near the village of Shiikh. Included also is Mount Wagar, immediately to the north of Shiikh. The vegetation of the site comprises c.30,000 ha of Afromontane vegetation and 20,000 ha of Buxus hildebrandtii-dominated evergreen and semi-evergreen bushland and thicket.
