I couldn't even read the whole article. I had to stop here, "Today, educational funding favors programs that teach kids how to read, rather than why to read."

Teaching kids how to read without teaching them why is almost pointless. This is one of the biggest issues I see with our education system today: Nobody is passing on to our kids the value of learning. Not the financial benefits, but the real value of learning.
