Our language is dying as it is, is taking is last breath lol, to have English side by side with our weak language and/or Arabic as second and third languages means more people will want to learn those languages, as they are obvious choices and nothing is wrong in learning those languages after all they are two of the most spoken language in the world, but few decades down the line and I’m sure our language will be forgotten, we need to find a way to put our language on top of the list, teach it at top universities around the world, have signs in Somali in places like China, Germany, Saudi Arabia, USA and Dubai, than people will want to learn our language, and few decades down the line, Somali language will be one of the most spoken language in Africa-insha'alaah-THAT is my hope anyways.

Why I’m saying this is because mother tongue is important we should encourage our people to learn the Somali language; even here in the UK the disappointed factor is they teach Hindu, Punjabi, Urdu etc etc at school but not Somali. We should teach young children mother tongue because it would help them to develop confidence, self-esteem and their unique identity within a multicultural society that we live in.
Furthermore until our language takes it off, as one of the best, most known/spoken language in Africa (at least) we should Emphasise our language more than others that are taught in Somalia, so that include Arabic and English
In addition foreigners who come to visit puntland should be made compulsory to learn our language, this way our language will have strong sense of leadership in East Africa. Just a language will do wonders, look at Swahili, man! You know how many whites & Asians I’ve say they know Swahili, I know many different countries speak Swahili but in time if we keep teaching and have Somali version of everything that is know to man kind, more countries will adopt our language. Few hundred yrs maybe, but in time they will.
Point is, is important to have our language as the centre of our community after all is language that we develop our thoughts, shape our experience, explore our customs, structure our community, construct our laws, articulate our values and give expression to our hopes and ideas.
So people we have to find ways of teaching, learning our language, writing about it, so our future generation don’t have to be language less, we homeless as it is!.
I don’t know maybe I just love Af Somali too much!
