Indeed Maxammad siyaad barre was also a great leader history will remember him ilahay ha u naxariisto
But I more looking for a figure all Somalis oo dhan jiiray is somalidu ha israacdo hayb na aan kala jeclayn reeraha oo dhan ay jecelyihin some one like gaandi. Axmed iebrahien al ghazi was also loved but he was not really promoting Somalisme but more Islam. And he being Somali shakii weyn ba ku jiira.

I can't think of anyone who purely promoted somalism like siyad did. Because he didn't use islam in his preaching of somalism. He wanted greater somalia!!! Where-as ppl like sayyidka and ahmed gureys and those ilks used islam as their platform for unity.

So siyad barre is all i can think of who fits the criteria. Siyad was planning to set up communist state where all the people of the state are loyal to state first and not to their clans. That is why he was eliminating opposition one by one who got in the way of this. Siyad great plan was all somalis live under the state and hail the state and not hail qabil.

That was his plan

Emperior you means tribes holding hands and marching as 1? kind of like the million man march to washington? lol!!! i don't think that has ever occured unless under the guise of religion. For example Ahmed gurey had many tribes under his wing. Like many darods and habar yonis. But it was under the banner of islam and not neccessarily any emphasis on qabil harmony!!! Shabab is mimicking the same thing, like godane being the head of kismayo branch of shabab. However it is not hold hand session of tribal unity, but islamic unity!!!

The only time i see unity in somalis is when it was islam. Even when it was islam, not all tribes were united, i have never seen 100% all somalis united under any cause for that matter, be it islam or democracy or any system!!!

Like the sayyid for example, many tribes were against him, some where tribes were with him. Shabab same story. Somalis were never a nation sxb, they view their tribe as a nation from the days of history. They only make alliances with close knit families based on interest not really based on any love. It is just not apart of the culture!!! Alot of ppl think islam can unite somalis, but i doubt so. If great men like sayyid couldn't, how will some rag-tag shabab crew do it? That is why i support federalism because it gives us both unity and at the same autonomous states like our tribes have always been. It really is good system.

Somalis have always been federacy sxb, it never been united in central manner....That is why i can't stand ppl saying we want centralism system which was forced upon somalis by colonialist, ppl need to realize colonialist have no clue how our ancestors operated and therefore we can't take their advice on what system we use.

The federalism system is not necessarily a western system, but if u look at how it is applied u will see that somalis have always lived in that manner. For example the habar yonis had their turf and managed their turf. The dhulos had their turf and managed their turf and so forth for all tribes. That is why federalism is the only workable solution to this mess, because it takes us back to our roots the way our ancestors lived for thousands of years and it worked just dandy for them, why can't it work for us?

Like i said i don't support federalism because my region supports it, i actually tested it and see it works quite fine for the ppl.
