How can the Somali people be civilized?

When I came back from East Africa a year ago, the first response I gave to the first question of "how was it" was exactly "I have concluded it is Islam that civilizes the camel shagging race called Somali".

While this is true to a certain extent, my later thoughts and the religious wars within the single Islamic faith we have witnessed recently in our parent's homeland has called on me to subdivide civilization into areas that need to be taken into consideration.

Islam civilizes the primitive Somali in the areas of morality and the excess of the human weakness ingrained within the soul. The ability to function as an organized society compliments the civilization Islam provides but in the case of the camel shagging race called Somali, this is a missing phenomenon. It is therefore not surprising to me, at least, the inability of the Islamic faith to end the barbarity we see in our parent's homeland.

Our people are for the most part illiterate and unskilled. Our people do not understand what it means to be a developed and organized state and therefore cannot appreciate the existence of such institutions. Take for example a cake maker. You can wish to make a cake, can choose the design of the cake but at the end of the day if you do not have the capacity to make a cake, all that is a wishful folly.

What I am saying is the camel shagging race called Somalis do not have the capacity, as they exist now majority illiterate and unskilled, to form a developed and organized society. They do not have the skills to form such an enterprise. As a result, chasing the dream of the remergence of a Somali state is a wishful folly because the Somalis do not have the capability to form and see the expansion of such a state.

Some say dictatorship is the answer and Siad Barre prooved Somalis can be organized and civilized under a tough hand. But I reply Siad Barre held off the inevitable. He was only a temporary force against the deluge that was meant to be. This is can be examined in all of the economic programmes the late regime put together and all ended in failure not because the government did not have heart or was not behind it but the populace that was supposed to compliment the government, the nation that should have been productive and the workers that were meant to increase productivity were nonexistent and such skills were absent.

Which brings me back to my point; the question is not how can the civil war be ended or a true government to form but how can the Somali people be civilized.

I normally try not to reply to your sorry topics basically because your normal line of defense is to get personally as soon as the argument starts going against you. However I get very offended when I see self-hating somalis and as much as I dislike somalis in general because of their actions, I try and avoid generalizing. The reason for this is I know what it feels like to be called a somali bastard and to be attacked for being somali, same with my father. Somalinimo and being somali is different for me and you. To me its my flag here in the west its my identity its my team and I will represent, defend it against anyone that tries to undermine it. When somebody say your are english, or arab or mix race or even pakistani, I have been mistaken for all these I correct them. I am somali and proud. You should try being somali and defending it like you defend marexanimo...

Somalis, the camel shagging race- DO NOT subscribe to any religion or entity of civility! True- Our diin has given them the faith and stamina to withstand great obsticles, but that has nothing to do with civility! One has to be Educated to be civilized. Period. But there is the side effects of gaining civility! And Vo u will not like it , given that u r a self professed lover of somali culture and traditionalism. General SNM, you are a gallant patriot. Your patriotism is so great you misunderstand Somali self-crticism designed to attack and remedy the weak spots in our people for "self-defeatist talk" that brings shame.

Your understanding of why I penned this is so far removed I don't even know how to respond to you. Let me say this to you however, this topic has nothing to do with fake nationalism, supra pseudo-patriotism, etc. It has nothing to do with that.

This topic is about addressing reality and facing fact. Somalis are illiterate and unskilled in the majority of numbers and it is a fundamental problem that needs to be addressed.

If you weren't a short-sighted child, you'd realize that literacy and vocational skills are problems that can easily be remedied, nor are they essential for survival. I'd ask you for your definition of civilization, but I'd be embarrassed on your behalf. You came to the West, saw that they lived a better life than yourself and instead of questioning the root causes regarding the problems of Somalia and endorsing an ideology that is compatible with Somali culture and Islamic values, you went with the age-old mistake of copying in the hope that you could replicate the West's recipe for success, without realizing that idiots much like yourself have tried and tested every ideology, every concept, from communism to dictatorship in conjunction with secularism, without achieving stability, much less 'civilization'.

In short, you have no idea what you're talking about.
