Director Roman Polanski
In the 70s, he drugged and raped a thirteen year old, pleaded guilty, and then fled the country before the court announced a verdict.
Finally, after thirty-two long years, the police are extraditing this cowardly bastard.
Yet, there are those who are OUTRAGED that this child-rapist is being arrested.
He drugged and sodomized a THIRTEEN year old - a thirteen year old, a child, a baby.
It doesn't matter if he's Roman Polanski, an artistic genius; he's still a vile individual.
I cringe everytime I hear someone plead for his case. This man should have been arrested sooner.

If he was a rapper, you'd see "Free Roman Plonaski" t-shirts worn!
Re: Director Roman Polanski
Some don't want him arrested because he's such a talented individual.
If Polanski was some average man, he would have been in jail long ago.
I don't care if he directed The Pianist; he needs to be in prison, where he belongs.

But ire, it was the effin' 70's. Everyone "party'd" and was on drugs. Big directors had pretty young things throwing themselves at em on the daily. He may have been a cheating dirtbag, but he could very well pull an R.kelly or an Akon, and say that the girl "appeared" older than she was. Around 25 as they say, anyway. Besides, its a victimless crime, when the girl herself wants the whole thing to go away. 32 years later.

True that peopled partied and there will always be groupies but it doesn’t apply this case.Amethyst wrote:But ire, it was the effin' 70's. Everyone "party'd" and was on drugs. He was supposed to work with the 13 year old who did look her age on a photo shoot. Seeing the girl was nervous he offered her alcohol to “calm down”.
He then gave the already tipsy little girl some powerful drugs he claimed would make her feel better.
He then took nude photos of the drugged up child and when she completely passed out he raped her.
I understand her wanting to put this behind her considering its going to drag her out into the public eye again but at the same time I doubt she will shed a tear if he does get locked up.

Razzberry, wonder why they didnt nap the guy years ago. Im sure they've had chances of him going outside of France. Maybe this has already been settled somehow, and he'll get a slap on the wrist or something, and get to come back to Hollywood.

The things that get you all worked up!
Re: Director Roman Polanski
Amethyst, he got her drunk. He drugged her. He sodomized her. He raped her. I'm sorry, but I fail to see how that equates to simple 'fun'.Amethyst wrote:But ire, it was the effin' 70's. And he can't "pull an R-Kelly" because HE ALREADY PLEADED GUILTY TO RAPING A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD CHILD!
Besides, its a victimless crime, when the girl herself wants the whole thing to go away. 32 years later.
Read Eugene Robinson's editorial:
He's pleaded guilty. He's been charged. His judge was douche, but he could have easily appealed. Yet, he decided to run. His ass needed to be hauled back long ago."But it's irrelevant what the victim thinks and feels as a grown woman. What's important is what she thought and felt at age 13, when the crime was committed. Those who argue that there's something unjust about Polanski's arrest are essentially accepting his argument that it's possible for a 13-year-old girl, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, to "consent" to sex with a man in his 40s"
I can't fathom how people can defend a child-rapist.

Good to see they're being consistent.
As long as lasting physical damage wasn't done, using the West's criteria for judging crime, he should maybe get a couple months at most.
