When Egypt goes to war with Ethiopia over the Nile
All hell will break loose in East Africa
Egyptian army will crush the Ethiopian army with ease. They don’t even stand a chance.
This will result in the collapse of Ethiopia as a country. Oromo’s will try to establish their own state. ONLF will crush the Ethiopians in Odagen and kill all foreign workers and take control over the oil fields. Eritreans will get back at the Ethiopians badly, inflict massive casualties on them. I could see Eritrean tanks taking over Addis Ababa.
I wait the day

But once PL & SL send their peace keeping troops to the stricken country, the evildoers will incite the people to rebel. Al-Cross and Hizbu Al Saleeb will conduct hit and run operations against peaceful Somali troops....

Re: When Egypt goes to war with Ethiopia over the Nile
Why do the majority of our people know so little about their neighbors?
Ethiopia is in no state to go to war, be it with Somalia, Eritrea and most definitely not Egypt, although Egypt is not particularly impressive.
If you knew anything about current situations in the Horn, you'd realize that outside of the Tigray region, Ethiopia is worse than even Xamar in every facet of life, 6 million are starving in the most developed area of the nation, 94.8% of the country is disenfranchised, ethnic violence is around the corner, whether Meles stays or not.

Ghazi aka Nomad,
Your logic in supporting Meles is to speed the destruction of Ethiopia

Re: When Egypt goes to war with Ethiopia over the Nile
This question makes no sense, anyway.
A war with Egypt would be a terrible decision for Ethiopia, seeing as without Western support (The US will support their Arab vassal state over a 3rd world slave, no doubt) there is no way in which they can compete. They are at a deficit in every way.
Egypt will continue playing with their water supply, and Ethiopia will accept it unconditionally, no amount of false patriotic belligerence from Ethiopian politicians will change that fact. A war is out of the question.
"While Egypt is taking the Nile water to transform the Sahara Desert into something green, we in Ethiopia - who are the source of 85% of that water - are denied the possibility of using it to feed ourselves. And we are being forced to beg for food every year,"
"And from time to time Egyptian presidents have threatened countries with military action if they move. While I cannot completely discount the sabre-rattling I do not think it is a feasible option. If Egypt were to plan to stop Ethiopia from utilising the Nile waters it would have to occupy Ethiopia and no country on earth has done that in the past."
^ The above is the closest we'll get to conflict. Empty rhetoric.

Re: When Egypt goes to war with Ethiopia over the Nile
Not quite. The destruction of Ethiopian was ordained from the moment they chose to allow cultures and ethnic groups to co-exist (the bane of every civilization in history), heterogeneity is a curse, particularly when you lack the means to give representation to every group in the nation.AbdiWahab252 wrote:Ghazi aka Nomad,

The reason why I support Meles is, while the fabric that constitutes Ethiopia will be destroyed regardless of who was leading, relative stability will remain, thanks to him. He's played the situation excellently, the closest we've come to instability is a minority of Oromo (the rest are second-rate Amhara's at heart, they will not revolt against Habesha) and Ogaden throwing a few tantrums, nothing Meles was unable to to cope with.
You see, what we'll have when Meles makes his mark and leaves the animals to their chaos, is a handful of ethnic states, divided (much like Somalia), and laughably poor. The richest of which (Tigray) still requires Western assistance for their entire population of 6 million.
From then on, the Western world will have no reason to support what remains of Ethiopia since their only reason for originally doing so was to monitor the lawlessness in Somalia and the steady self-sufficience of Eritrea.
From then on, famine will do what nature intended, and the Ethiopian people will be cleansed from the face of the planet.
It's beautiful, really.

Re: When Egypt goes to war with Ethiopia over the Nile
The second most likely scenario after famine exterminating the resulting ethnic-states is Eritrea forcing compromise, probably in the form of giving refuge/financially aiding the most powerful and influential of the micro-nations, which is shaping up to be Tigray.
Eritrea, through influence or direct control will encompass the Horn. The heart-breaking thing is that Somalia could've been in this position if not for Irir.
On the plus side, there is no better man to control the Horn than Afewerki.
