MOGADISHU (Mareeg)—Al-Shabaab militants have reportedly took over the port town of Kismayo from its rival insurgent group Hizbul Islam after fierce fighting killed nine people, mostly combatants in the town, witnesses said on Thursday.

The seizure of Kismayo by al Shabaab comes after Anole rebel group allied to Hizbul Islam surrendered to al Shabaab and also a commander named Mo’alin Abbas killed from Hizbul Islam.

The defeated Hizbul Islam fighters have pulled out from the town and went to Afmadow town, where the have a base.

Nurses in Kismayo hospital confirmed that more than 50 people were inured in the fighting between the two groups.

Residents say calm has returned to town and the fighting has subsided. Fighters from al Shabaab militants are patrolling the town and captured all contested areas of the town.

What a hypcrites...It is time every single Kaanbooni disassociate himself from Awees and thier fake Xisbi...Alshabaab faught like a group and Axmed Madoobe was left alone in the jungle....But I am proud of the Absame boys for fighting to the death against al-khawaariij....

canooloe fought hard walee runtaa fiican ee,but as with fighting men when the leader goes down retreat is the best option.their leader siciid was killed in the fight.

shabaab lost gudoomiyaha ciidanka labada jubbo adan dhagweyne.

kaambooni were bushed back but still remain in the city..but i doubt any one can defeat shabaab.

sillyboy,xisbul doofaar is now officially divided into two camps.
One camp consisted of ogaden,ceyr wants to sent reinforcement to kismaayo. The other group of gaaljecel,marexan,xawaadle rejected that and said that axmed madoobe started war without consulting the leaders.
