The Political Hub For Somali's In The West Somali President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed Heads To Minnesota.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The president of war-torn Somalia will meet with Somalis in Minneapolis starting Friday.

President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed will be visiting the nation's largest Somali population shortly after stops at the United Nations and in Washington.

In Minneapolis, he'll meet with community elders, religious leaders, university students and others before a public rally Sunday. Local organizers say as many as 5,000 people could attend.

Organizers say the president plans to talk about challenges facing Somalia and get advice on ways to stop the violence there.

Ahmed also wants to meet with families of some young men who left Minnesota to go fight with a terror group in Somalia. It's not clear if those meetings have been confirmed. Three of those young men have died.
