It's natural. She wanted to know what box to put you in. If she was from the deepest South and you were from the furthest north, she would keep her conversation limited to 'yes, akhi' and 'no, akhi'. If you are slightly central, she may give you an extra word or two to feel the water and see if if any part of your background joins up with her 'chain' somewhere. But if you happen to be from the same village then it's practically xalal for her to take off her hijab and get you in a bear hug. :mrgreen:

Actually someone asking what clan you are or where you are from isn't qabiilist ileen they just wanna know who you are and where you're from. However if they look down on you because of your clan then that is qabiilist.
Whenever someone asks me I tell them straight away :up: 8-)

Unlike the Munaafiqiin Walaweyn , we Isaaq just say " waar maxaa ahayd" simple as that 3 word sentence. why the long story, intee ka timi etc.
