I support welfare too, but I don't believe it should be used as a permanent solution.

My father had NOTHING when he came to America; however, he didn't let his immigrant status or socio-economic situation hinder him. He worked hard - terribly hard. He took on three, four menial jobs in order to support himself.

He wasn't content with being on welfare.

He worked hard, enrolled at an Ivy League school, and got off government-aid.
