the word Somali it used as nations name and as an identity as well as an origin for some tribes such as hawiye, dir, and d & m.
so my question is why would isaq, darod, and many other tribes consider to use the word somali as an identity of nationhood or as people?
mods please dont move this topic

well there is the answer to you question
so if thats the answer why would any of the individuals on this site hate or feel superior to anyone else if he or she identifies oneself as a somali from somalia

Okay ..
Let's take Morroco as example no 1 .
The word Morroco comes from the latin version of Marrakech which was the capital of a number of BERBER dynasties .
A lot of people from ARAB descent are Morrocans.
example no2 let's take Mauritania . It comes from the Moors who were also BERBER , but a great number of people from Arab descent are mauritanians .
In the case of Sudan , I don't really know what it means , but the French called modern day Mali , the French Sudan , so I'm guessing it has something to do with the indegenous black people , and we know a good number of people from Arab descent are sudanese .

i understand what your saying but when it comes to somalia its different.
for example hawiyes dir, and d&m say that they are the natives but on the other hand isaq and darood claim to have came from yemen and iraq(only based on snet. im not generalizing) but today and for a very long time both identify themselves as somalis(people) from somalia(nation) but that is only when it comes to a non somali but the case is different when it comes to the inter circle of somalia.
to me the reason why we dont have unity amongst ourselves is because every individual feels or thinks he or she is superior when it comes to dealing with one another.

Sheikh Isaxaaq bin Axmed also came from Yemen ...it is his ancestry that originates back to further back North .
The feeling of superiority , at least to me , only comes to one's tribal belonging as to the effectiveness of his clan .
I can say we are more effective in engaging each other { along subclans} than the rest of the somali tribes , way more effective than the darood who also tie themselves to the other side of the Red Sea .Of course many of them will not agree
The thing is , there is no magic trick here . Everybody is not going to FEEL somali overnight .What is going to take us there is "trials &tribulations".
If my cousins don't lose their arrogance , we're gonna get fucked , I can't speak for the rest of the Somalis
The only problem I have with the Islamic resurgence in southern Somalia is the VIOLENCE attached to it . People are ALREADY muslims , how can one "islamize" muslims at the barrel of a gun ?

i dont think you understood what i was actually saying sxb.
but let me take what you and shitguy said. since you feel or think of yourself being superior.
then what is the need to identify yourself with the word "somali" or even the need to intermix with those who are inferior to you

Cushitic guy,
This is how the order of superiority goes in somali nation.
Darood first
i'saaq follows
Part of hawiye third
the other part falls to fourth
raxanweyn fifths
somali cadcad sixth
somali bantu last
The last time we tried to disrupt this order, a civil war began which is is going on till now.
I hope that answers your query
