I have been at this question for quite some time with no avail. Why is this city so neglected? It seems like a massive military encampment for Puntland or rather a buffer zone rather than a part of the state. There's always roads and highways being built in secluded villages throughout Bari but nothing for this town, not even a village road. Wallahi you would think the city was Dhusomareeb or Cabudwaaq if you saw it, no sign of development since the civil war.
Some may argue that its a clan-by-clan basis whether a city in Puntland sees development or not but Puntland can easily seek NGO support like with all other projects. Damn, Goldogob used to be way bigger and more popular than Garoowe but now they don't even seem like they're two cities in the same country let alone under one maamul. Not even talking about hotels and shit, the city lacks the most basic infrastructure. Puntland has done more for Sool than Goldogob which is the #2 city in Mudug and one of the 5 biggest cities in Puntland.
Is it a problem with Leelkase who aren't active in building the town?
Goldogob

Re: Goldogob
paidmonk??
Have you EVER been to Goldogob or are you on crack? I've been their recently, and it is VERY develop compared to many places in Somalia. You have no idea what are you talkign about, brand new hospital and a beautiful school. even though this is not important, the basketball court was surprisingly new, i didn't see any other nice ones in the rest of the state. you have no clue what you are talkign about if you think Goldogob is neglected. you never been there then.

Re: Goldogob
Southie, I know Goldogob has a good hospital and many schools but the city has dirt tracks, no roads virtually. You have seen the pics and I posted the google earth shot, the city is really messy and needs urban planning. Cement roads are paved every day in other cities in Puntland but not in Goldogob. Goldogob is just as muddy and nasty as Gaalkacyo but Gaalkacyo is much less chaotic and modernized and its not even that much bigger than Goldogob.

Re: Goldogob
The city needs urban planning and better structure if you ask me, the houses are everywhere and they are built on top of each other
a guy that went there told me that since the city is practically 90% Leelkase and 80% Muumin Adan at that, they don`t really buy land they just build houses wherever they want hence why the place is messy
Other then that and the fact that it`s a bit muddy waa meel iska caadi ah, they have 24/7 electricity and phone/internet connection, they also have education facilities and health facilities.
Paidmonk I don`t think Puntland is ready too invest money in Goldogob or Gaalkacyo, they are to wrapped up on Garowe and Bossaso

Re: Goldogob
Xamud correct that Gaalkacyo & Goldogob get no attention from the government but the big businesses in Gaalkacyo helped stem ground clearing and road construction.
Goldogob is extremely chaotic, you would think its in Jubboyinka or something. Trees and bushes everywhere with zero roads.
This is what I mean.

Compare to Gaalkacyo which has cleared roads.
