The leader of a radical fundamentalist Islamic group has been shot dead in an FBI raid near the US city of Detroit, officials say.
Luqman Ameen Abdullah, 53, died in a firefight with agents in Dearborn after refusing to surrender, the FBI says.
The agency said it was trying to arrest Mr Abdullah and 10 followers on charges including conspiracy to sell stolen goods and illegal arms possession.
The FBI says the group's aim was to set up a Sunni Islamic state in the US.
Mr Abdullah, who was also known as Christopher Thomas, had regularly preached anti-government rhetoric, the agency says.
He had also reportedly urged his followers to engage in jihad, or holy war.

Re: FBI shot an imam dead in Detroit
Luqman Ameen Abdullah, imam of the Masjid Al-Haqq mosque, was killed by the FBI on Wednesday in Detroit during raids in which a number of individuals were arrested on charges unrelated to terrorism.
According to a criminal complaint, the FBI has accused the Imam of citing stories from the Quran and the life of the prophet Muhammad "justified stealing, robbing and other illegal acts, as long as they profit Islam."
The FBI accuses him of being "the radical leader of a Sunni Islam group in Detroit who expressed hatred for government and endorsed violence."
The claims have been dismissed as "utterly preposterous" by Abdullah's mosque.
Imam Abdul Alim Musa, Muslim activist and director of Masjid Al-Islam in Washington, DC, told Press TV that the killing was nothing more than a setup.
Press TV: You told us earlier that the killing of Imam Luqman was an act of assassination. Do you have any evidence on that?
Musa: We have evidence on the way it happened; I wanted to wait a while so that we could find out exactly. We sent some brothers from here Washington D.C to the Jenazah (the funeral) in Detroit. What they found out was first of all of the information relating to the indictment against Imam Luqman was all arranged or prearranged what we call entrapment.
It means that the government sent informers to entice imam Luqman to participate in various activities; that he wouldn't have participated in unless he was confronted by the informant.
Now related to the exact killing, the informer called Imam Luqman to come and have some of the brothers and himself, move some TVs or load up some televisions in a warehouse that was owned and operated by the informant. When they arrived there they began to move some TVs around, it had nothing to do with robbing or stealing. This property belonged to the informant, which really belonged to the federal government.
The informant said I am going to get two guys some water. So he went supposedly to get some bottles of water. As soon as he left the scene, the FBI came in and demanded that everybody get on the ground. Everybody compiled with this including Imam Luqman. At this point, and this is exactly what has been reported to me, the FBI had a dog and the dog was told to "get him."
The dog went around everybody else and directly went to Imam Luqman, when this happened Imam Luqman is said to have shot the dog. When the dog was shot the FBI opened up on him.
The reason we know it's a setup is that it is all arranged.
Number one is that Imam Luqman had complied with all of the instructions of the FBI. It is not lawful for the FBI or the police to stick a dog on a person only in two circumstances:
One is that the person is running and hiding and they can't find them then a dog is used. Number two is in the case of drugs and explosives. Which none of theses cases existed.
So all of the people in Detroit and all around America consider that this is a setup and a provocation against Imam Luqman's life and the Muslims in general. This to us is all about the war on Islam inside America.
Press TV: Do you see this as an act of Islamophobic Killing?
Musa: I can't give you all the information that is going on in the background, because of the ongoing investigation of the FBI. I mean of the FBI by us. There were some things going on in the background relating to Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin.
The media focused a lot on Imam Jamil Al-Amin, now Imam Luqman is a follower of Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin formerly known as H. Rap Brown, a very famous person in African-American history and later on in Islamic history.
This is the person who made the transition form civil rights Black Nationalism to Islam. He is a leader of a national community in America. It is believed that the FBI focused on Imam Luqman because out of all the Imams in Imam Jamil's community he was the most active and most supportive of Imam Jamil Al-Amin.
Therefore his killing was a signal, a sign, to all of the Muslims in his community and mainly all of the Muslims in the black community that now we are after all of you. This war is a continuation of what we call a counter intelligence program that was used against Black Americans, white Americans.
Press TV: Are Detroit Muslims seeking to sue the FBI?
Musa: The people in Detroit, not only Muslims but Christians they didn't tell you on the news that a big church in Detroit came out in support of Imam Luqman. They had a demonstration on his behalf. The Muslims are looking at all their options but it is defiantly a continuation of Islamophobia — the fear of the spread of Islam in America
