Hey all!! :)

I'm lovin how this forum is so active mashallah!

I'm doing some research for a coursework about Somali attire at weddings and was wondering if u could help me by answering a few questions:

1) Do Somalis have a specific type of clothing designed for the bride?
a-yes
b-no

2) Are diraac or gunthino a type of clothing a bride would wear on her wedding day?
a-yes
b-no

3) Are there any diraacs/gunthinos specifically designed for a bride?
a-yes
b-no

4)If so, would you wear it on your wedding day?
a-yes
b-no

5) If you wouldn't wear a diraac or gunthino at your wedding, what would you wear?

6) What would you consider is the best type of clothing for bridesmaid?

Answers to the above questions would be much appreciated:)

Hey! Welcome, walaal. I like your nick. :)

1) Do Somalis have a specific type of clothing designed for the bride?
Yes, and no.
2) Are diraac or gunthino a type of clothing a bride would wear on her wedding day?
Most brides wear a dress, or a guntiino, or Hindi dhaqan. The bride would wear the guntiino or Hindi dhaqan to the 'tadabo bax' which is basically seven days after the wedding night.
3) Are there any diraacs/gunthinos specifically designed for a bride?
Not entirely sure, but I think a bride could ask for her outfit to be specifically designed.
4)If so, would you wear it on your wedding day?
No, I wouldn't wear it.
5) If you wouldn't wear a diraac or gunthino at your wedding, what would you wear?
I haven't thought about that.

6) What would you consider is the best type of clothing for bridesmaid?
I haven't thought about that either. I'm not planning on having any bridesmaid (s).

I hope my answers are of use to you. I tried to answer as honestly as possible. All the best with your coursework, insha-Allah. :)
