Somalinet Movie Recommendations
Election - 2005, Hong Kong
Triad Election (Election 2, 2006), Hong Kong
All available on Instant Watch through Netflix, they are must-see gangster films, Hong Kong always has a one-up on Hollywood garbage. Amazing musical scores on both films, each one received critical acclaim in their home countries and they averaged 91% on Rottentomatoes aggregate reviews, I found out because they were part of Quentin Tarantino's bio, he liked them so much he helped in their re-production, and what Quentin likes is always worth a peek.
Add more if you can.

Watched both, great films, Hollywood is too flower to touch those subjects without throwing in a White leading actress to even things out.*Nobleman* wrote:Best foreign films i've seen are@ La Haine which is french and city of Gods which is brazilian. I've been trying to get a copy of that movie for months now since I first heard of it. I'd rent it through Netflix but the account I use belongs to my brother and we live in different cities. And I don't think my local video store has it, but its definitely at the top of my watch list for the year.dynamic wrote:im a fan of chinese cinema also , you should watch infernal affairs

Re: Somalinet Movie Recommendations
I'd recommend the Japanese film Daremo Shiranai.
It's about a whore of a mother who abandons her small children for her boyfriend, which forces her oldest 12 year old son to take matters in his own hands when they realize their mother is never coming back and grows into an instant-father to his little brother and sisters. Some way he miraculously manages to raise his little brother and sisters for months.
One day the oldest son brings home two friends and one of those friends gets angry with one of the little sisters when she eats a bowl of something that he brought for himself. He beats her to death. Another friend and the oldest son pack her body and bury her outside the city. That's when the drama begins. You'll have to watch the film to know what happens after that.
Based on a true story and is considered a Japanese classic.

Every post after Cinque has shamed this topic. UK youth are, in their own terms, truly wastemen.
