Al-Shabaab denies Somalia hotel blast
Published: Dec. 4, 2009 at 9:14 AM
MOGADISHU, Somalia, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- The Somali Islamic group al-Shabaab denied responsibility for the deadly hotel bombing in Mogadishu, blaming the government instead, the group's spokesman said.
Sheik Ali Mohamud Rage said the government was responsible for Thursday's blast at Hotel Shamo that killed at least 22 people, including students, government ministers and journalists, the BBC reported Friday. More than 60 people were wounded.
"We declare that al-Shabaab did not mastermind that explosion," Rage said. "We believe it is a plot by the government itself. It is not in the nature of al-Shabaab to target innocent people."
Presidential spokesman Hassan Haile had told the BBC Thursday he thought al-Shabaab masterminded the attack during a graduation ceremony.
Rage said some government officials were seen leaving the hotel before the bomb exploded, leading to the belief "that they were behind the killing."
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Somali President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed described the attack as a "national disaster," the British broadcaster reported.
He called the victims "dear citizens ... unjustly assassinated while carrying out their duty to the nation."
The blast occurred during a ceremony for medical students graduating from Benadir University.

Innocent untill proven guilty

Re: Al-Shabaab denies Somalia hotel blast
The bomber whose picture they showed was killed in execution-style, as he's missing his right eye (left eye is intact), plus he was wearing men's dress. Also, he looks like he was killed a few days before his picture was taken; his dead skin looks aged.Oxidant wrote:I still think this could easily have been an false flag. This tactic on part of the TFG and its Western sponsors is logical. It isn't new tactic, as it has been used many times over the years. The logic is to separate the people from the rebels or insurgents. They had to resort to this tactic 'cause other tactics like the propaganda of bras/soccers bans, raping/stoning a teenager, gold teeth extractions, etc all failed. I highly doubt this tactic is gonna work.BODHI wrote:OF COURSE THEY WOULD BUT EVERYONE IN SOMALIA KNOWS THEY DID IT I LOVE HOW YOU EXTREMEST ARE BLAMING FRENCH/AMERICAN/ ISRAELI AND WHATEVER IS IN YOUR DERANGED MIND AS THE CULPRITS I MEAN REALLY WHY WOULD THE FRENCH OR AMERICAN ARMY BOMB A GOVERNMENT THEY SUPPORT YOU GUYS ARE TRYING TO MAKE THE ILLOGICAL LOGICAL AL SHABAB ARE AGAINST EVERYTHING THE SOMALI WANTS![]()

Re: Al-Shabaab denies Somalia hotel blast
There are many ways to carry out a false flag in this case. They could have easily handed a man some money, told him to carry a bag inside, drove away and detonated it. Then placed a phone call to the magazine (TIME) claiming to be "Sheikh Abdifatah" a "high ranking Shabaab member", who nobody has ever heard of. The general rule is most people are dumb and would accept the 1st story they hear in the media anyway. This is the case for any false flag.

Just like how they had residents of Mogadishu calling telling them how Eritrean troops were in the capital when UIC were in powerWadaay wrote:There are many ways to carry out a false flag in this case. gaalaa ka dan baysay!!!
Re: Al-Shabaab denies Somalia hotel blast
What also puzzles me is why they had to turn a graduation ceremony into a TFG political event. They didn't put those kids through school. It seems anywhere there is a camera is an oppertunity to show case their 'legitimacy' at the expense of others.

And also the story of Amanda Lindhout who was supposedly raped, impregnated and had a child.Oxidant wrote:Just like how they had residents of Mogadishu calling telling them how Eritrean troops were in the capital when UIC were in power
