Clan elders solve feud in Bari region

Somali clan elders from Puntland’s Bari region who were engaged in solving inter-clan warfare, have come up with resolution to end the conflict.

Puntland government tasked the elders to mediate between two brotherly clans, Ali Saleban and Ali Jabrahil who recently fought in Igdheys town in Bari region.

The meeting was held on 5th December in PDRC place and Garowe’s Presidential Palace where the elders presented a guideline on compensation and urged the clans to fully implement the agreement.

The elders agreed that the clans would pay USD $25,000 for every person killed in the warfare and every clan is required to pay the compensation as required.

President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole hosted a dinner for the elders and elites of the two clans in the presidential palace, where both parties have agreed to fully implement the agreed agenda.

The elders have urged Puntland residents to shun inter-clan conflicts and instead work together in solving their differences, saying that there is no one in the world who has been praised for fueling conflict

Puntland government recently issued a strong peace pact between the two rival clans who fought over land while deploying some 400 soldiers to the clashes-prone areas.
