Seriously all I see is two options that we(people in the diaspora) can do to help our people back home and that is:
1) help them out financially instead building villas and buying landcruisers
2) stop meddling in their affairs and let them solve it themselves

In the 2nd option what I mean is we don't need old daneystayaal fighting for a seat in the government just to line their own pockets or some fantics who want to brainwash innocent kids to fight for them.

Cumar,

Helping financially is sound, there is a problem though, 70% of the money we send back home goes straight to Ethiopia and Kenya as the money is used for khat..

Building castles is not an option too I agree, in some places they are called "Looga Hadh", if you ask some one where do you live? They say "Looga hadhkii" which means those castles that were built by the people on diaspora as they need someone to take care of their houses while they are gone...Wouldn't it be better if the money was invested in job/income generating projects like small factories, farms etc is what I ask myself.

I agree with you in the second one too..We need fresh ideas..Not the old same thing over and over..Even inside the country the same people are taking different names...and most of the people in the diaspora are adding fuel to the fire...I have heard people who collect money for wars and stuff...

Sis..Flo,

I heard you..One thing is for sure, the roots of the problem of Somalia is qabyaalad...Not qabiil...Qabiil is something that is harmless if it is not used for the wrong way...

What I mean by helping out financially is not just sending money to them but using the money to build water holes - because water is the most important thing they need whether they live in a city or out in the countryside. Another thing is invest in schools and dugsis. However what we all must do if we have the opportunity is those of us who have qualifications then use it to good use what they need are doctors, nurses and teachers. I see somali kids studying business and other similar degrees, but what can that degree do to benefit their people. Walle we need more edna adans
