We Have more In Common with Arabs Than Africans

At least personally that is something I am convinced of. In my workplace I have people from Uganda, Ghana as well as Sudanis/Morrocons. Culturally I feel there are a lot more in common with them than the Africans. It is not just Islam but just culture. Definitely I am very pan African When it comes to trade, commerce etc. However culturally and socially I do not see anything in common between a Somali and a Kenyan or a Ethiopian and a Ugandan and so forth. In even living in the Arab World for a bit, I noticed that Somalis adjust very easily and a lot of the customs are the same. Furthormore if You're in Qatar or Egypt and You say You're from Somalia its like You're a Arab, but with other Africans they just have this contempt or jealousy for Somalis, except for Ethiopia. Sometimes When I hear this "Pan Africanism" stuff being pushed even at a social level I get taken aback. I mean, I would never want the promiscuity and African dhaqan xumo that prevails in their Countries. I mean say what You want about Arabs and their Women but they are more aligned with Somalis When it comes to modesty for the Women etc. The most a girl can do there is phonebone similar to Somalia, but in the rest of Africa (Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda) You can pick up a chick and bang her that night with the greatest of ease. Also the stories I hear about the Somali Bantus in Somalia and how far away from Religioin they were is worisome. What do You Guys think?

Each person relates to that commonality in different ways. I personally feel more connected with other Africans than Arabs. The only thing in common I have with Arabs is our religion. I say that because I have been to other countries in Africa and I have lived with other Africans. Somali Ethnocentrists will probably disagree with me. If I grew up in the Middle East then I would be more familiar with the Arabs than Africans. In the end, to each his own. Africa is home remember that.

100% true. I think I have said something about this before. Politics aside and what you think about Afrocentrism or what your position is in regards to "Arabization" of Somalia, culturally a Somali is more comfortable and could fit in easily in Damascus then in neighboring Nairobi. Somalis in Kenya, Tanzania and other African countries live separately as if they are a nation within a nation and the Kenyans will be the first to tell you but Somalis in Arab countries are as mainstream as the mainstream culture because of the similarity and parallel in mainstream Arab culture and Somali culture. It is not just the religion because I would think of a Somali living in Indonesia as living a nation within a nation life but can't think of that for a Somali living in Dubai or Egypt.

If we were siblings, it would be our twin. If a Somali went to faraway Baghdad or Amman how comfortable would he be with the local culture when compared with going to even nearby Addis Ababa and Nairobi? You can't even compare.
