difference is He talks very well, and is articulate not a illiterate hick from Texas. That being said, Governance wise I don't see much of a difference.


Foreign Policy=Pretty much the same. More troops to Afghanistan, and Israili settlements are being built as fast as ever in the West Bank.
Economy=Don't see what He did to promote Job growth.

Chomsky was probably talking about foreign policy and in that case it is not about being Bush or not because all American presidents have an American-interest view in foreign policy as is expected of them. When it comes to domestic policy, only a fool would say he is anything like Bush.

Sure Obama has had one year and the unemployment rate is still suffering because of the near depression but domestically how could anyone say they are even closes when it comes to policy?

For one the gitmo is a gimmick, there are hundreds of secret prisons around the world and nothing was done about those. Also, last time I checked Gitmo was still open. As for the "ending of the Iraq War" 30,000 more were pumped into Aghanistan unnecessairly so I don't see How one should be jumping up and down about that. And again, last I checked there were still thousands of troops still in Iraq. As for the Housing collapse, Americans are still losing their homes everyday, and the little steps that were taken were not nearly enough to stem the loss, and the Natl debt only increased. My point is it is easy to talk but, there hasn't been much "change" as Obama loves to say.


One thing I can agree with is that things would have been a million times worse of Mcain was in office.

Sxb Obama said he was going to increase American invovlement in Afghanistan as a candidate. No one is surprised by Afghanistan but the issue was Iraq and Iraq's mandate ends this summer. It's practically wrapped up all the American contractors have been sent back home. As for what he achieved, it is a lot. He was given a 96% rating for his acomplishments, the highest of any recorded president on his first year. It is just cuz this guy's bar is so high that people can't see it. He is still far and ahead of all the others except big transformational issues like health care baa laga sugaa when the reality is no one would expect that from any other president. The last 6 democratic presidents have tried and they failed but he is expected to get it passed which is why no one sees how far he has brought it so far, farther then any other pres before him.

People forget the urgency there was this time last year. THe economy was shot, people afraid to put money in banks, the american empire was crumbling and now we are back to how it was before. Sure the unemployment is down and we still have a deficit, all because of bush but everything else is on track. And this is only 12% of the time Bush held power
