Why did clan groups use “Somali” in their party names.

Somali Democratic Alliance (Gadabursi),
United Somali Party (Dulbahante),
Somali Democratic Movement (Rahanwayn),
Somali National Front (Mareehaan)
Somali National Movement (Issaq)
United Somali Congress (Hawiye)
Somali Salvation Democratic Front (Mj)

Why didn't they just call themselves for what they were eg Isaaq National Movement or United Hawiye Congress and so on
