American family life in Mog 1970 - 1990
My family moved to Somalia from the USA, we landed in Mogadishu a beautiful spring day in 1970. My dad was going help to build the new modern Somali education system, he was hired as an adviser to the Somali government, led by Siad Barre. I was only 5 years old and was exited to live in the beautiful country, that my parents had told me about. We quickly became used to the the new surroundings and began to build a new life. In the U.S., we lived in a small boring village in the countryside, but in Somalia we lived inMogadishu a city whose beauty could not be described with human words . I was sent to the American school in Mogadishu, where there was both Somali and foreign children. There were many different kinds of classes. I got many Somali friends fast, we settled ourselves in the district of Lido it was a nice neighborhood I quickly learned that the Somali people were, tolerant, open, happy, generous. On Mondays I and other 15 white boys walked around Mogadishu as scouts selling cakes, wherever we were w

ere we met friendliness and openness. We always got our cakes sold out. I grew up as a teenage boy in Mogadishu, it was fantastic! After school I and my friends used to go to the beach for surfing, (there was some good waves that came to Mogadishu) we used to lie on the beach under palm trees to look at girls, hahahaha, the Somali girls were really beautiful. In 1985 I met the love of my life. It was my Somali classmate Amina. At night we went to Mogadishos nightlife (Mogadishu had a wonderful nigthlife) there were many cool nightclubs, after that we went to the big hotels in the city, where they organized many music concerts. and we ended the night by drving out to the Mogadishu beaches, where we and many other young people went romantic in hand and hand, while we looked at Mogadishus beutiful starry nigth . Once a month we used to drive out to the safari park outside of Mogadishu, filled with fascinating animals like lions, etc. In my sparetime I worked in the german school in Mogadishu. It was wonderful.

Mogadishu was a multiethnic city with an international atmosphere. I never felt as a strange, on Sundays my family took to the largest and most beautiful Catholic church in Africa, it was in the middle of Mogadishu, beside a beautiful mosque. There were many nationalities in Mogadishu, American, Italian, Chinese, South American, European , etc. I grew up in Somalia and felt and still feel as a Somali, a white Christian Somali. I loved Somalia and saw it as my country. I miss my beloved Somalia everyday. Somalia was a country which could not be compared with anything else in Africa! it had a functioning education system and health care. Women and men were equals. People were not discriminated against. The Somali army was the largest in Africa. And Somalia was the largest recipient of U.S. economic and military aid. Somalia's success was due to one man, Siad Barre and his honorary full government. The day Siad Barre left Mogadishu in 1991 , Somalia was doomed to failure . It was the terrorist groups, USC, SNM

who destroyed Somalia. Let me be honest with you Somalis: No other nation in Africa has ever had a leader like Siad Barre. He transformed Somalia from a backward tribal land, which was governed by foreigners. To a prosperous and modern nation. It grieves me to see what has happened in Somalia since 1991. My family was evacuated from Mogadishu in January 1991. I have described only 1% of what I experienced in Somalia, ask me all the question you want. I want young Somalis ho live in the West to get a good education so the one day when peace returns to Somalia, moves back and build up your land to the beautiful paradise it once was. I will bring you all back to the beautiful Somalia I knew with these pictures.

Your thread specifically celebrates the Era of Siyad Bare.
And Siyad AUN became a qabilist towards his last tenure.

These whites are more patriotic than us
read what this gaaloraac is saying:
Mohamed K. Adan Hi. I just wanted to tell everyone the people responsible for the destruction of Mogadishu and Somalia as a whole are the tribe collectivly known as "hawyie" and their subclans and their sub sub clans. These are the people who overthrew the government, slaugthgered and killied innocent civilians, and who are preventing... Somalia from rising again. So, my friends, let us join togther and drive the hawyie from the shores of Somalia and back to their Rwandan homeland!
Somalia ha nolato!
well, aslong some somalis think that way forget peace & unity
