Can someone tell me the political position of the Afar people in both Ethiopia and Djibouti. Are they pro TPLF or not? Do they control Djibouti?

Of course, not. If you are not going to add value to this thread. I suggest you leave. :lost:

I find Ethiopian politics more fascinating than the repetitiveness of the Somali one. Ethiopia is going to hold a general election soon. The country is facing a massive famine and with many armed groups causing damage especially our brothers ONLF.

I was wondering where the Afar people stand. They do have an resistance group called Afar Liberation Front. I ask the Afar especially since their land is being sold to foreign countries, killing their livelihoods.

Hi,

In Ethiopia, they r anti-TPLF and r in a desperate situation.
They r under heavy treat from the Issa expansion towards the rich Awash River valley.
Now and then TPLF uses the fight between these two tribes to put pressure on the Afars.

As for Djibouti, I have no idea.

Afar in Ethiopia are facing a bigger threat from Amhara than Issa. As for Djibouti they are treated as equal and actually among the three nation's they inhabit, by far they more have more power and equality in Djibouti. Its helps being Muslim and inter marrying with the Somali's heavily.

Afar are antiTPLF. However, there is a splinter faction which supports the regime.

Overall, I believe that EPDRF will win in the elections.

I would rather say from the Tigryans...I heard that in some Die Hard Tigray nationalist circles they r considering annexing them to the greater Tigray.
Nowadays Amharas r no threat to no body... they r wooing the old Afar aristocrats for support.

among the three countrys in which they live by far Djibouti is the most democratic and prosperous, that would explain their fair treatment

If i was the Tigrayan i would not mess with Afar. These people have mentality of War 24 Hours or else why do you think they have held their Ground when in it comes to the Somali's. If it werent for their Fighting, Afar regions would have been conquered by Somali's along time ago. As for Amhara today they seem to be the most Anti Ethiopia because they no longer are in Power. My advice Oromo need to destroy Amhara once and for all because they are the only One's who are stopping you from the top spot.

King-of-Awdal,
The nearest we came to destroy them was in the 17th century when some adventurous Oromo tribes conquered Gojjam for a short time...the whole enterprise ended up by putting Susenyos on the throne...a princely prisoner brought up by an obscure Oromo chief and one of the most effective xabashi king against Oromos
Amharas r shrewd politicians..
