Do we have another choice?

Post by Lord Diplock »

other than resisting and fighting the Habashis/Tigrays?

Many individuals have told me: 'why not do a deal with these f*ckers' 'you have been fighting for a long time and what you have achieved?' 'the Somalis in Northern Kenya 'seem' content living under Kenyan rule' 'The world is against you' 'you're swimming against the tide, nations are uniting for example in Europe' blah, blah, blah.

And my answer has been: we are dealing with thuggish Ethiopians here, not some pansies Europeans or Bantus, these thugs do not understand the langauge of diplomacy and democracy, you either surrender (and get used and abused) or you fight them to death. We are dealing with Africa's Israel here.

do you all share my sentiment? or are there those who believe we should do a deal with the animals and stop the fight and become part of 'modern' 'federal' Ethiopia? what do you think?

Long live JXWO

Lord Diplock people who advocate for diplomacy, negotiations or deals with the neo-nazi regime and believe the conflict will be solved through political are ignorant concerning reality in Ogaden and know nothing about the history of the current crisis and its root. ONLF did big mistake in the early 1990s the TPLF succeeded in fragmenting the ONLF by engaging its more moderate members in negotiations and into the region’s patronage and spoils system. They have done this in 1995 when the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) split into two over negotiations with the TPLF. The “hawks” under the then ONLF leader Sheik Ibrahim Abdalla (AUN) continued armed struggle, while the “doves” led by Bashir Abdi Hassan joined the EPRDF after merging with the Pro-TPLF Ethiopian Somali Democratic League (ESDL) of Abdulmejid Hussein.

Many don't know that after the fall of the Dergue (the Communist military junta that came to power in Ethiopia following the ousting of Haile Selassie) members of the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) formerly clandestine and their supporters became public and the ONLF participated in the political process and won the election in 1995 more than 85% of the casted votes in the Somali region. At the end of the transitional period, the political organizations, the elected members of Parliament, the elders and the people started expressing their views about their future status. Their views and demands were not consistent with that held by the Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) led regime of Addis Ababa.

So The Addis Ababa regime responded rapidly by overthrowing and almost terminating all democratically elected national institutions in the region, including the Regional Parliament. TPLF officers started killing, arresting, and intimidating unarmed and peaceful ONLF leaders and its members. They started to execute publically regional governors, mayors, and important figures in the community without due process. And tyranise the civilian population.

ONLFis prepared to defend its people, it choose the liberation struggle rather than accept their lot as second class citizens, a people who only exist as part of the empire.Never will we negotiate right for self determination and independence, history teaches us that freedom is only achieved with the gun not politically.TPLF cannot defeat ONLF in the battle field, they seem to have opted for other hypocritical ways to get rid of ONLF for good i.e deals and diplomacy.

We have learnt from our naive mistakes, the barrel of a gun is the only soultion, in the Ogaden conflict the sword is mightier than the pen. 8-)

Hypothetically speaking if today ONLF decided to put aside their weapons and negotiate , the dialogue needs to be held in a neutral platform, in a neutral third country, in the presence of a neutral third party arbiter of international standing with no preconditions placed on either side.

But before ONLF even thinks of holding a dialogue, the TPLF forces need to cease in executing a campaign of terror against innocent people and more recently carpet-bombing villages and nomadic settlements.

Lord Diplock Ethiopia with the most powerful army in the horn cannot gain total control of the Ogaden today in the year 2010 given they have latest military equipment, kudos to ONLF, a frog does not run in the daytime for nothing...the regime has always been on the loosing end of the battle , TPLF acknowledged (at least to themselves) that by its crackdown it is only walking into the lion’s den.

Zenawi knows losing Ogaden means the end of they dying empire, and unlike us the Ethiopians, have never forgotten how the Somalis muslims almost brought their kingdom to an end. they have long viewed themselves as an island of Christianity surrounded by Islam. They have exploited the current climate of anti-Islamic sentiment and lobbied the wider international christian nations to rally behind them. They're playing different cards to maintain firm grip on Ogaden.

LD very true Inadeer, good answer.

Queen well done, very well-informed.

ONLF is ready to negotiate but nothing less than TRUE FREEDOM for the Somali of the Ogaden will suffice. As we see Meles and his thugs continously swallow and ignore the plight of the peoples of FAKE Ethiopia, his term accelerates into the enevitable downfall of his regime.Today we see uprisings all around the so called country, poor farmers having there land sold off to foreign elements, students and newspapers arrested/shutdown for there views, political opposition almost impossible and the economy down as always although he manages to trick people with his Fake GDP measurements, the millions starving, we see the end of another era...The elections in May will be rigged as always, even the U.N/E.U know this but remain silent to avoid the anarchy that will follow as a nation of 80 million falls, However the opposition will grow and sooner or later the armed struggles across the country will gain momentum, Meles's weak army will not cope. The Ogaden as usual will not have elections due to the current fighting, the last legitimately elected party was ONLF whom he exiled for there simple view that the people of the Ogaden should have self-determination and vote on this via referendum.

Long live JWXO! I beleive JWXO will reach the mountaintop.

Personally I believe you should follow what the tigray have done and that is to overthrow the ruling party, which they did to the amxaars, and control the whole country. As long as somalia is weak and governless I can't see onlf succeeding and if they do ethiopia will keep coming back. Instead of looking behind you, you can oppress the opressors and invest heavily to ogaden.

Babygirl that law only applies to the tigriyan speaking people It was passed for Eritrea And it will in the future for melez his own tigray state to secceed from the mentally slaved oromos if Ethiopia comes to its collapse which is unlikely to happen, that is their plan to present to the world that the Christian Part of Ethiopia Can form its own country The Habesha People so this law only applies to the Tigriyan speaking people.
Why do you think mele zanawi keeps investing the past 20 years in mekele tigray region
