Somaliland Admin illegally handover Mother to Ethiopian Admi

The Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) strongly condemns the unlawful arrest and illegal handover to Ethiopian regime authorities of Bishaaro Wa'adi Shaqlane ,respected businesswoman who in an effort to escape the Woyane militias,relocated to Hargeisa where she had relatives and lived peacefully with her children in hargeisa.



After being picked up from her home by the security services of the so-called Somaliland administration on 10 Feburary 2010. She was quickly handed over to Woyane militias in Addis Ababa soon afterwards.

She had been arrested by the Ethiopian regime three times and tortured in
prison on both occasions. She was first arrested in July 2000 for her activities associated with empowering women and beaten in prison. No charges were brought against her and she was denied legal representation. She was released a few months later only to be arrested again in October of 2001 and was beaten again in prison. After several more months in prison denied access to her family or counsel, she was arrested again on October 20, 2006 and was severely tortured having both her arms broken during violent interrogation by security forces before being released from prison for a third time on 31 January 2007.


Bishaaro has escaped persecution in Ogaden and fled to northern Somalia where she registered with the UNHCR under an alias (Shamsa Abdullaahi Hersi) for her own safety given the extensive security cooperation between Ethiopian authorities and the so-called Somaliland administration.

The unlawful detention and illegal rendition of Bishaaro Wa'adi Shaqlane is in line with a recent security cooperation agreement between Ethiopian authorities and the so-called Somaliland administration concluded at the Semrat Hotel in Dire Dawa city in November 2009.

This very unhuman and should not be tolerated , and at the same time very sad because this lady has been tortured many times and in many jails finally she find refuge in Somaliland. Where she could rest in peace, but unfortunate the government of somaliland handed her over to the tigray regime, which made her life even harder. All we can do is pray for her that allah protects her from cadawga. I don't condone these unlawful handovers by the SL government and let it be said that the actions of the SL govt doesn't represent the general public. Insha'allah may allah ease the pain of those suffering at the hands of the ethiopian regime.
With that said, I would also like to ask some of the members in this section a question: a couple of months ago a relative of mine who lives in london told my family that his abti was killed in some town in ogaden. He said that his uncle's car was stopped by the onlf and they shot both his uncle and another man who was a passenger, they also burnt the their car too. So my question is: do you guys have a logical reason why the onlf would do that, when neither of the men were armed?
