It seems to me Culturally We value and care more about reputation than to right or wrong.
Gabar/cunug baa la fara xumeeynaa, instead of calling the authorities. It’s hushed away.
Someone kills someone: the famz quickly buy a plane ticket and get them out the country.
Now a lady in the UK killed her daughter and ran to her mother in a different city, instead of reporting the crime, she was most concerned about ceebta and hid her daughter as a result both of them were arrested.

Funnily enough, if Somalis cared about ceeb they would have sorted their country out by now . Which shows this "ceeb" nonsense is purely superficial.

Because we're a society that teaches group think, so whats bad for one is also bad for all. Hence you're liable to be killed for a crime committed by a geeljire 3rd cousin of yours whom you didn't even know existed.

Whereas in the west your own son/brother/father could be a convicted serial killer and a cannibal and it would have minimal affect on your life. Because you're not the guilty one.

Very true. But the problem stems from the way Somalis (by and large) inherently indirectly address the issue, sometimes by something as seemingly inconsequential as the way they refer to the incident. For example, instead of saying "Safia waxaa lagu arkay/lagu qabtay..." they have to mentiom everybody BUT Safia when describing the situation...for example "Naa ma maqashay ceebta magaalada ka dhacday?! Dee bal tii Amina Xussayn dhashay arinteeda kuma soo gaarin miyaa?! Haa, waa gabarti Sheekhaashida aheed oo wiilkii Ogaadeenka qabay...tolow magicii? Haaaa, Ismaciil Sheikh Biixi, barabiyo waa asagii! Aahey, tu yar ey dhaleen baa surwaal lagu arkay, ka waran?"

It doesn't justify the behaviour Advo was talking about, but it's undeniable that it plays a factor in their decision to try to keep everything hush-hush.
