In arabic it is called Al Samawat Al Sab'a so i guess literal english translation is the 7 skies but a more accurate translation will be the 7 heavens as you mentioned.

khludi-- would probably be the equivalent of living in government housing and firdaus would be a mansion

you view of Paradise is distorted, if you compare it to something as horrible as public housing.
