Outstanding student achievement in Pakistan
The results of the Cambridge Outstanding Achiever Awards 2009 reveal that more than 50 Top in the World awards have been won by students in Pakistan.
Students across the country performed exceptionally well in the Cambridge O Level, IGCSE and International A/AS Level examinations in June 2009, and we are pleased to recognise their success. CIE's prestigious Top in the World award is given to a student who has achieved the highest mark in a Cambridge examination, outperforming thousands of Cambridge students worldwide.
The winners of the Top in the World award at Cambridge International A Level in Pakistan are:
- Anika Sadiq for Mathematics and Zainab Abaid for Psychology (Beaconhouse School, Islamabad)
- Saeed Ahmed Khan for Physics (City School, Islamabad)
- Arish Noor for Biology (Beaconhouse Faisalabad Chapter)
- Ussama Ahmad Khan for Law (Lahore Alma School)
- Zeerak Ahmed for Thinking Skills and Rida Qadri for Sociology (Lahore Grammar School)
- Syed Fawwad Hasan for Business Studies and Akash Ahmed Shaikh for Economics (Karachi Grammar School)
- Ahmed Ali for Literature in English (Lyceum School)
William Bickerdike, CIE Regional Manager, Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan commented: ‘CIE is delighted to have this opportunity to recognise the achievements of Pakistan students. Students have performed impressively at all levels and these awards recognise their success, and acknowledge the teachers and family members who have supported them during their studies. The Cambridge International Curriculum provides students with lifelong skills and robust qualifications that are accepted and valued by universities and employers throughout the world.'
To mark the occasion, CIE has produced a commemorative brochure. Please follow the link below to view the brochure which contains the full list of award winners. Students will be presented with their Cambridge Outstanding Achiever Awards in a series of school-based ceremonies.

Ironm@n,
China is the place to be now. I have countless relatives who left the States, Canada, Europe and Africa to study there.
